CastoTube - Semi-fi nished, anti-wear solutions for pipe. CastoTubes are seamless, easy to weld, mild steel, tubes which have been internally wearfaced with wear resistant alloys. By avoiding expensive forming operations of fl at plates into tubes, CastoTubes offer many advantages:

• Very cost effective when compared to rolled plate

• Seamless - absence of wear-prone linear weld joints

• Exceptional wear resistance

• Round cross section, spiral welding minimizes distortion

• Lightweight for handling

• Easy-to-join by welding or mechanical means

• Available from 3” up to 24” I.D.

CastoTube Advantages

Controlled cooling during the manufacturing process produces densely dispersed hard phases. These are strongly oriented to provide superior wear resistance when compared to conventional weld coatings.

CastoTube Specifi cations

I.D.

The Eutectic Difference CastoTube alloys are engineered for exceptional wear resistance resulting in:

Ultra-hard phases anchored in a tough matrix - Hardness is typically 2-3 times higher than the most abrasive media used in industrial processes.

Uniform hardness and exceptional wear properties throughout coating - Controlled cooling during CastoTube manufacturing means a coating with a dense homogenous structure. This structure prevents premature “washing out” of the hard phases from the “softer” matrix by wear mechanisms. Conventional, randomly solidifi ed alloys tend to wear out much faster due to the early loss of hard particles from their matrix before contributing to wear resistance.

Dense dispersion of strongly oriented hard phases maximize wear resistance.Conventional weld structure with random oriented hard phases.

3”-24”

Hardfacing

Due to the speed and change of fl ow direction inside an elbow, wear rate can increase dramatically in some areas. Usually, the fi rst segments are subjected to more harsh conditions and face premature wear, while the rest of the elbow remains in good condition.

In order to create uniform wear all along the tube, Eutectic installs hybrid elbows to solve this problem. The fi rst part is made with NanoAlloy® CastoTube® while the remaining part is made with 4666 CastoTube®. This solution gives the ideal mix of wear resistance properties - “the right wear resistance in the right place”. Maintenance is also made easier and more cost-effective by allowing the replacement of only the worn segments.
