U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Unit 2 Goose Hunting Cibola National Wildlife Refuge The boundaries and the regulations for hunting on the Refuge can appear complex, especially for hunters not acquainted with the area. Make sure you know where you are hunting and what, if any, special regulations are in effect. Most of the Refuge is located in Arizona; areas west of the Old River Channel are in California. Read and sign this brochure before hunting on the refuge. Hunters must possess a license and any required stamps from the state in which they are hunting. Waterfowl hunters must possess both State and Federal Waterfowl stamps, (duck stamps). Weapons Approved non-toxic shot is mandatory for all gun hunting regardless of the species being hunted. Possession of lead shot and lead slugs is prohibited. Persons possessing, transporting, or carrying firearms on national wildlife refuges must comply with all provisions of federal, state, and local law. All shotguns must be limited to a 3 shell capacity. Hunting or shooting within 50 yards of any public road is prohibited Target shooting or the discharge of a weapon except to hunt is not permitted. Check-in Hunting on Unit 2 is permitted only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Unit 2 hunt fields will be reserved for youth waterfowl workshop December 8th & 9th. No regular goose hunting (other than the youth hunt) will take place. Cibola NWR will continue using a lottery based reservation system to allocate hunting permits for Unit 2 goose hunting blinds for the 2018/2019 hunting season. Reservations will be available for Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday hunts starting on November 24, 2018 through January 27, 2019. No hunting blinds will be available between December 9 & 10, 2018, during the annual youth waterfowl camp. Any questions may be directed to the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge at 928/857-3253. Hunters may be selected for a maximum of one hunt block, and may bring up to three companions to hunt in the reserved blind. For example, an applicant may be drawn for one weekend totaling two hunt days during the 2018/2019 hunting season. However, a standby drawing will be held at 4:30 a.m.(MST) each hunt morning to fill non-reserved blinds and reservation no-shows. Hunters may hunt as standby hunters as many times as they wish. All reservation permit holders will choose one of the nine available blinds (lowest permit number choosing first) on the morning of each hunt day. Hunters may apply for the 2018/2019 Cibola NWR Unit II goose hunt by mailing in their; name, address, phone number, email, and license number and their top four choices for the dates they wish to hunt to: Goose Hunt Cibola NWR 66600 Cibola Lake Rd Cibola, AZ 85328 Permit applications must be received by November 3, 2018. Applicants will be notified via email, phone, or mail by November 10, 2018 if they have been selected for the hunt. There is no longer a fee required for this hunt. All incomplete and illegible applications will not be considered in the drawing process. Hunters are reminded that those applying for dates in January 2019 must have an Arizona hunting license valid for 2019. All hunters must check in and be registered at the goose hunter check station by 4:30 am MST on each hunt morning. In addition standby hunters will be selected to fill open blinds at 4:30 am for registration. Late arrivals will not be accepted. Hunters are not allowed to change blinds. Hunters may only hunt the blind they have selected. Hunters must hunt from within their designated blind, except to retrieve downed birds. If blind is flooded then the hunter has the option to lay down adjacent ground blinds. Regulations: Absolutely no driving off of designated roads. A minimum of 12 goose decoys is required. Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until 12:00 p.m. MST. Hunting shotguns MUST be cased during non- shooting hours. Hunters must remain concealed in their blinds until 10:00 a.m. MST. Two blinds (5,13) are available for persons with disabilities possessing an AZ CHAMP permit. If no CHAMP permittees are present, then these two blinds are available for other hunters. Hunters must follow all regulations posted at the Unit 2 check-in station. Violation of regulations will result in removal from hunt for the remainder of the day. No hunt coordinator will be present. Hunters are reminded to be sportsman and practice good hunting ethics. Cibola National Wildlife Refuge Unit 2 Goose Hunt Permit All hunters are required to sign and carry on their person this hunt brochure. This serves as a valid permit for Unit 2 refuge hunts. Unit 2 Goose Hunting Cibola National Wildlife Refuge

The boundaries and the regulations for hunting on the Refuge can appear complex, especially for hunters not acquainted with the area. Make sure you know where you are hunting and what, if any, special regulations are in effect.

Due to a raised water table, the field for blinds 7-11 are no longer planted. Blinds can still be used if hunters want to hunt in the fallow field.
