Conference OverviewDoctors’ Program (Featuring the PICA 10-% Discount Program)

We invite you to join us for this year’s APMA Region One / Podiatry Institute Doctors’ Scientific Program. We believe that you will be im-pressed with the variety of topics and caliber of our speakers. Scien-tific Program co-chairs, John Ruch, DPM and JT Marcoux, DPM, have brought back some highly rated speakers from previous conferences and added many new speakers from the Podiatry Institute. Last year’s Region One Conference was rated as excellent or good by 95% of the 195 DPMs attending and we are anticipating another outstanding conference as we partner with the Podiatry Institute for the first time.

For the history buffs, there’s the House of the Seven Gables just 5 miles away in Salem, made famous by hometown author Nathaniel Hawthorne. On the same site are three other historic homes including the Hooper-Hathaway House, Hawthorne’s birthplace, built in 1750, and a sea captain’s house from the 1830s. A trip to Salem would not be complete without a visit to the Salem Witch Museum to view the 13 set presentation on the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Just a short walk from the Witch Museum is the Peabody Essex Museum, begun in 1799 by seafaring entrepreneurs to display what they had collected on their voyages. It is the country’s oldest continuously operating

museum and boasts unique early American decorative arts holdings and architecture and the world’s largest and most important collections of Asian decorative arts.

Drive north to Massachusetts’ other cape, Cape Ann, to visit the historic fishing seaport of Gloucester - the second permanent settlement in the New World after Plymouth. You can stay on shore and walk the Gloucester Maritime Trail through the city to see all of the sights including its fisherman at work in the harbor or you can venture on the seas to voyage aboard one of the many whale watch vessels. Gloucester is the whale watching capital of the east coast. Or you may want to step back in time and sail aboard Adventure, an actual historic fishing schooner.

Wherever you go in these cities or the other historic seaside communities of Marblehead, Essex, Rockport, and Newburyport in Massachusetts or Portsmouth, New Hampshire, you’ll find scores of antique and gift stores and restaurants and spectacular ocean and harbor views.
