GERMANY BLACK FOREST gÂteau A layered chocolate cake, sandwiched together with whipped cream, cherries and chocolate shavings. LEBANON TABBOULEH A salad made from onions, tomatoes, parsley, mint and bulgar wheat. UK Fish and Chips White fish that is coated in batter and deep-fried. It is served with chips. usA APPLE PIE A shortcrust pastry tart, filled with a mixture of apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. FRANCE ONION SOUP A soup made with onions and meat stock. It is garnished with pieces of bread and cheese, and then grilled until the topping is crispy. MALTA FROGA TAT-TARJA A crispy, pan-fried omelette made with vermicelli pasta. ukraine BORSCHT A purple-reddish soup made from beetroots, onions, cabbage and carrots. china WONTON SOUP Wontons are fried or steamed dumplings. They are added to soup, along with meat, vegetables and noodles. south africa Malva Pudding A sticky, sweet sponge cake made with apricot jam. CANADA poutine Chips topped with gravy and cheese curds. AUSTRALIA RACK OF LAMB A cut of meat from a lamb. It is roasted and served with a sauce made from mint. ICELAND HÁkarL (shark) A fillet of shark that is cured (dried out) for several months.
