Day 7: Surgery• Ulcerative and

hemorrhagic colitis with a thickened colon occluding the lumen 10-13 cm proximal to anus

• Euthanasia and necropsy

• Additional colonic and gingival culture swabs submitted

Positive for Shigella from rectal swab, colon, and gingiva

• Growth was not speciated
