USB centring and measuring microscopeVZM and VZM-BAZ
For measuring XY distances within the workspace of modern CNC processing machines, sinker and wire EDM machines, rotation centres, etc., the small, easy-to-handle USB camera system is the ideal solution. Examine and measure intricate details without having to wire components – particularly useful and time-sav-ing in limit ranges. Two magnifications are offered as standard systems:
For sinker- and wire EDM machinesthe system is supplied with an original Erowa input. For machining centres (VZM-BAZ) we offer as an alterna-tive a 20 mm diameter shank holder.
In combination with the Metric measuring software, measurements such as distances, angles, radii and sur-face areas are also possible within the visual field. Con-nection to Excel also ensures quick and easy logging of images and measuring values. Functions such as the DXF overlay module facilitate controlling the device. Readout of the XY and Z coordinates is possible, de-pending on the machine controls. This means that all measuring functions can be used across the entire range of the of the machine’s travel limits. If the CNC program is used to move the camera the same way in the machine that e.g. the erosion wire has covered, then an automated visual check of the cut contour within the complete travel range of the machine can be carried out using tolerance limits set in a DXF geometry.

The parts are illuminated perfectly through a ring light with nine LEDs arranged at an angle of 30º. The ring light is supplied with electricity via the camera. In addition to the camera system with LED ring light and measurement software, the scope of delivery includes a 0.01 mm division calibration disk and DAkkS protocol plus an aluminium carrying case.
For systems for sinker and wire EDM the receptacles are adjusted on our premises in a machine in respect of the axis alignment. This alignment must however be rechecked and if necessary cor-rected in every case before use in your machine.
The systems for machining centres(use with collet chuck) likewise receive a basic adjustment, which however must be readjusted
again after insertion into the collet chuck and machin-ing centre. In each case it is recommended to set aside a day for installation and training with the system.
EIn principle it is possible to supply the VZM-BAZ sys-tem with other magnifications and visual fields. Most requests are for a visual field of approx. 10 mm which we can implement without any problems. It must how-ever be noted that the larger the visual field (the mag-nification becoming lower), the pixel size increases and thus measuring accuracy is reduced. We will be happy to advise you.
