The Colors of Progress
Albuquerque Service Center’s
Green Team 2009
It all started Four Years Ago
Budget & Finance Operations were centralized in Albuquerque
The San Francisco Building at the Journal Center was assigned to B & F operations
The San Francisco Building was designed as a corporate building
The Third Floor had a large balcony with empty concrete raised garden beds
The 1st Year
The whole operation was new
Forest Service employees were arriving in waves
The majority of the workers had not arrived in Albuquerque as of May 31st
Every floor had a unique feature
The 2nd & 3rd Year
A few eager employees decided to give tomato plants a try in the existing beds
Success!
The Green Team had it’s first meeting in January 2007
The 4th Year
The Green Team proposed a garden project on the 3rd floor balcony
The Landlord gave permission to go ahead with this plan
So the Garden was started in March of 2009
A small group of enthusiastic gardeners began!
