Scanning printed photos isn't the most exciting

many images that will fit on the scanner so you

only have to scan once. But then comes the

daunting task of separating all those images. Now,

with NEW Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, the task of

separating those scanned images is easier than

ever! Here we'll show how you can save a lot of

time using the Crop As New Image tool.

What you'll need

Use the Organizer to find an image

Use the Crop as New Image feature

When you complete this tutorial, you'll be able to

Open the Sample ImageDownload the , and save it inyour My Pictures folder.Once you have the image saved, begin typing thefile name PSPPX2_06 in the search box at the top ofthe Organizer. Your collection of image files isautomatically filtered.Once you find the sample image, double-click the photo to open it in theworkspace.

Choose the Crop toolFrom the Tools toolbar, choose the tool. You'll see the Croprectangle on the image, and by default the area outside therectangle is darkened. Also by default, you'll see the floating Croptoolbar, which usually appears below the crop rectangle. Thistoolbar provides a convenient method of accessing the most

frequently used features of the Crop tool, including the

button (circled here).

Drag around the first scanned printYou may want to zoom in first so you can see the edges ofthe scanned prints. Now position the cursor at one of thecorners of the topmost scanned print, and then drag toenclose the print. You can also drag the handles on the croprectangle (the hollow squares on the corners and along thesides) so the rectangle encloses the print.

Click the Crop as New Image buttonWhen you're ready, click the button onthe floating crop toolbar, or on the Tool Options palette. Verybriefly, you'll see the new image you've created, then focuswill return to the image of the scanned prints the new imageis behind it.

Crop the remaining printsContinue using the Crop tool this way to create new,individual image files of the remaining two prints. If thescanned prints are all the same size, like in our example,you can simply place the cursor inside the current croprectangle and drag the rectangle into place over the next

print, and then click the button. Onceyou're done, you'll have three separate images that you cansave! It's really that easy.
