Aim and Objective

To find out awareness of Open Access among Engineering Faculty

To find out which type open access resource is mostly used by them

To find out the need to open access training for faculty

To find out problem why faculty are not using open access for their study and teaching

Methodology

Online Survey To accomplish the objectives of the study, an online survey

was conducted with the faculty members of AISSMS College of Engineering , Librarian has sent email of this online survey for this study to 304 faculty of Engineering College, twice reminder were sent but only 79 Faculty responded this on this survey

Research findings (1/2)

76% faculty was aware about open access, 24% faculty was not aware about Open Access  

(70.5 %) of faculty was using Open Access for their research work and teaching while 18 (29.5% ) faculty was not using Open Access for any purpose

42( 61.8 %)  faculty was using Open Access journal for their research and teaching ,10 (14.7 %) faculty  was using open database, 13 (19.1 %) faculty was using open  repositories and only 3 (4.4%) faculty was using Open Access Books

Research findings (2/2)

(47.4 % ) of faculty was aware about Directory of Open Access Journals database and they was using for the research work, 24( 31.6 %) was not using DOAJ database for research work and 16(21.1 % ) faculty was not aware about DOAJ database.

Conclusion

Need to organize more sessions on Open Access for faculty Display information boards in Library for Open Access

Resources information Increase awareness among patrons

Involved Teaching faculty in Open Access sessions during Open access Week 2016

Distributed pamphlets among faculty and students with Open Source Resources Details

Displayed Banners with Open Access Information details in Cafeteria

Conducted OA competition during Open Access Workshop
