HEY YOU! Make sure to read all

     warnings and instructions before using

     your Aerous VX Series Headset.

Obviously, it’d be great if we could just have the

one warning—“Show a little common sense here,

people”—but there are some litigious folks out

there who apparently can’t drink a glass of water

without setting their house on fire. To that end:

    • If you experience any discomfort or difficulty insertingthe earpieces, remove them IMMEDIATELY . Your ears aresensitive, and you should never force anything into the ear canal—no matter how much your buddies at the bar are offering you.

    • Consult an audiologist or physician if you develophearing problems, excessive wax build-up or any

discomfort after use. If you develop a huge ego, however,we’ll totally take credit for that.

    • Do not submerge the headset or expose it to water .This will probably not come as news to you, but electronics+ liquids = BAD.

    Help us protect your hearing

by using your Aerous VX Series

    Headset in a responsible manner.

    OSHA (Occupational Safety Health

Administration 29CFR1910.95) hasdeveloped a series of guidelines forthe length of time one can normally beexposed to specific Sound PressureLevels before hearing damage occurs:

Your Aerous VX Series Headset was handcrafted to fit snugly and comfortably in your ears, like a hug with sound. To maximize your comfort and to optimize yourlistening experience, it’s important to insert the earpieces properly. Don’t justcram ‘em in! A good seal will help eliminate background noise and deliver the

best frequency response. A great seal will balance a ball on its nose.

We could make a pun about howhope this isn’t boring you, but wefar above that.

Your headset is marked with blue lettersto indicate the left earpiece and red

letters to indicate the right earpiece.Take a moment to let this barrage ofinformation wash over you. Then grab theearpiece without  the microphone and holdit so the serial number is facing up,

that way our spy satellites can read it.

Repeat steps 3 through 5 with

the other earpiece. We hope you’re keeping up.

Route the cable over and behind

your ear, then down the front of

your chest. Clip the cable to yourcollar to prevent any pulling or snaring.Check yourself out in the mirror to seehow good you look.

Today on “Sesame Street:” Do you know what opposites are? Up is the opposite  of down. Black is the opposite  of white. Musical theater is the opposite  of fun.

To remove the headset, do the opposite  of what we justsaid on the previous page. Pull the top of each earpieceout from under the upper rim of your ears. Then, rock theearpieces slightly forward, gently loosening the seal, and slidethem out from your ear canals. NEVER yank the earpiecesout by their cords—we don’t care how much of a hurry

you’re in, or how bad you have to pee.

Your Aerous VX Series Headset comes with an adjustable mic

gain, located behind the small hole on the volume control

case. Using a small flathead screwdriver, you can increasethe mic gain by turning clockwise and decrease it by turning

counterclockwise. Try to make bad little puns to yourself as you’redoing it. “How did Mike gain so much weight? All he eats is fish!”

We attempt to set the angle of themicrophone boom at the factory, but itcan vary slightly from person to person.Ideally, the microphone should point

directly at your mouth . Tests have shownthis to be a far more efficient configurationthan aiming the boom at your eyes, noseor pituitary gland.

VOLUME CONTROLLocated on the cord of the headset, the volume control should always

be decreased to minimum levels BEFORE turning on radios or any

other audio source to the headset. Once avionics and radios have been

turned on, increase volume to a comfortable listening level. We say it somuch because it’s important; amazing audio isn’t gonna help you if you’veblown out your eardrums.

For optimum audio reproduction, always set the source volume

low enough that the headset’s volume control can be fully increased. If your passengers are using less efficient headsets, point and laugh at them, then adjust the in-line volume control to strike a balance. Make sure theyunderstand the sacrifice you’re making for them.

STEREO/MONO SWITCHNear the volume control, you’ll also find a stereo/mono

earphone switch. You can probably guess what it does. If your

radios and intercom are mono, you’ll need to switch to the“M” setting. If you’re using the optional PS Engineering Muse® or Pilot USA Bluetooth interface with the system, leave the switchon “S.” If you have both, constantly flip the switch on and offthroughout your flight—okay, don’t.

     All right, that’s it—now,

get out there and rock the skies!
