2.2 Charging the X-Drone battery

ConnecttheX-DronebatterytotheX-DronebatterychargerandthenconnectthechargertoanACpowersource(100-240V,50/60Hz).WhilstchargingtheLEDonthechargerwillturnred,whenfullychargedtheLEDwillturngreen.Afterthebatteryisfullychargedpleaseremovethebatteryanddisconnectthecharger.

2.3 Installing the X-Drone battery

EnsuringthattheX-Droneisswitchedoff,insertthebatteryintothebatterycompartmentontheX-Droneandlockthebatteryintoposition.IfthebatterylockisnotfastenedthebatterymaynotconnectcorrectlywhichmayaffectflightsafetyorstoptheX-Dronefromtakingoff.

2.4 Battery precautions

- DonotpulloutthebatterywhilsttheX-Droneisswitchedonasitmaydamagetheunit.

- Ifthebatteryisnotgoingtobeusedforalongtimeitisrecommendedthatyoudischargethebatterytoa40-50%chargelevelbeforestoring.Tomaintainbatterylifedischargeandchargethebatteryevery3months.

- Donotcontinuetouseorchargethebatteryifthereisanyexpansionordamagetothebattery.

4.1 Installing the propellers

Attachthepropellerswiththegreycapstothemotorshaftswithout“P”marksandattachthepropellerswiththeblackcapstothemotorshaftswith“P”marks(circledbelow).Tightenthepropellersasperthelockdirection(seeabove).

PLEASE NOTE: Thepropellersaredesignedforautomaticturning,thereforedonottightenexcessivelyduringinstallation.

4.2 Removing the propellers

Whilstholdingthemotorwithyourhandorthesuppliedwrench,holdandrotatethepropellerintheunlockingdirection(seeabove).

4.3 Precauti ons-Beforeeachflightcheckthatthepropellersarecorrectlyandfirmlyinstalled.

-Ensureallpropellersareintactbeforeeachflight.

-Keepyourdistancefromrotatingpropellersandthemotorstoavoidcutsandinjury.

-OnlyusepropellersthathavebeenprovidedbyVehotoensureoptimalperformance.

4.4 Propeller Guards

YoucanprotectyourX-Drone’spropellersfrombeingdamagedduringflightsbyinstallingthepropellerguards.ToinstallapropellerguardremovethetwoM3x8screwsattheendofeachmotor,thenplacethepropellerguardinpositionandattachusingtheM3x12screwsprovided.Tightenthescrewsasrequired.PleasekeeptheM3x8screwsinasafeplaceandreplacewhennotusingthepropellerguards.

MakesurethatthecontrolleristurnedoffandthenturnontheX-Drone.Thefront,rearandtailindicatorswilllightup.Whenyouheara‘beep’soundturnonthecontroller.Thevideoindicatorwilllightupindicatingthatpairinghascommenced.WhenthetailindicatorcontinuouslyflashesfastthelinkbetweenthecontrollerandtheX-Dronereceiverhasbeensuccessfullyestablished.

TheX-Dronesmartphonerangeextenderisawirelesscommunicationdevicethatworksinthe2.4GHzfrequencybandandisusedtoincreasetheeffectivecommunicationdistancebetweenthesmartphoneandtheX-Drone.Thecommunicationdistanceisaffectedbythesurroundingenvironment,suchasblockagesduetotrees,signalreflectionbybuildings,interferencebyothersamefrequencybands.

6.4 Pairing

Theonboardcameraandsmartphonerangeextenderhavebeenpairedpriortoshippingsoitisnotnecessarytocarryoutpairingagain.IftheWiFiindicatorflashesquicklyorremainssolidonpleasefollowtheinstructionsbelowtorepair.

1. Turnonthecontroller,X-Droneandsmartphonerangeextenderrespectively.

2. Oncethesmartphonerangeextender’sWiFiindicatedturnssolidbluemovetheS2switchonthecontrollertothecentreposition,thenmovebackto‘OK’.

3. Pressandholdthepairingbuttononthesmartphonerangeextenderfor3seconds.Thesmartphonerangeextenderwillautomaticallyrestartforre-pairingandthentheWiFiindicatorwillflashslowlytoindicatethatthesmartphonerangeextenderhasbeensuccessfullypairedwiththeonboardcamera.

6.5 Charging the smartphone range extender

ConnectthesmartphonerangeextenderadaptertotheminiUSBportonthesmartphonerangeextenderandconnecttheadaptertocharge.Itwilltakeapproximately2hoursforthebatterytofullycharge.

Toturnthesmartphonerangeextenderonmovethepowerswitchtotheonposition. WhentheWiFiindicatorblinksslowlythesmartphonerangeextenderisready.

Beforeeachflightcheckthatthesmartphonerangeextenderhassufficientcharge. Turnthesmartphonerangeextenderonthenpressthepairingbuttononce:

Flying environment requirements

- DonotusetheX-Droneininclementweather,suchasstrongwinds,snow,rainandfog.

- Selectanopenareawithnotallbuildingsintheflyingsite.Thepresenceofalargenumberofsteelbuildingsintheareawillaffectthecompass.

- WhileflyingtheX-Dronestayawayfromobstacles,people,powerlines,shelters,bodiesofwateretc.

- Donotflyinacomplexelectromagneticenvironment(suchasnearmobilephonecasestationsortowers)toavoidtransmitterinterference.

- Donotflyinrestrictedorno-flyzonesandabidebyrelevantlawsandregulations.

Pre-flight check

- Ensurecontroller,X-Drone,smartphonerangeextenderandsmartphonearefullycharged.

- Ensurepropellersarecorrectlyinstalled.

- EnsurethemicroSDcardisproperlyinsertedbeforeusingthecameratocapturephotosandvideos.

- CheckifthemotorsstartproperlyaftertheX-Droneisswitchon.

7.1 Compass calibrati on

IMPORTANT:Makesuretocalibratethecompassbeforeuseorineverynewflightlocation.Thecompassisverysensitivetoelectromagneticinterference,whichcancauseabnormalcompassdataleadingtopoorflightperformanceorevenflightfailure.Regularcalibrationisrequiredforoptimumperformance.

- Donotcalibratethecompassinastrongmagneticfield.

- Donotcarryferromagneticmaterial,suchaskeys,mobilephones,etc.whilecalibratingthecompass.

- Thepropellersmustberemovedbeforecalibrationtoavoidaccidentalinjury.

Inawide,openareaturnonthecontrollerandX-Droneandmakesurethattheequipmentisworkingproperlyandfollowtheprocedurebelowtocalibrate.

7.2 Starti ng/stopping the motor

MakesurethattheS1-S4switchesareinthepositionsasshownbelow.Toggletheleftandrightjoysticksasshownbelowtostartthemotor.ThisisknownasCombinationJoysticksCommand(CJC).Afterthemotorshavestartedreleasethejoysticksimmediately.

PLEASE NOTE:WhentheS4switchisinGPSmodethemotorscannotturnonuntiltheGPSisready.

TherearetwowaystostopthemotorsontheX-Drone:

1. AftertheX-Dronelandstogglethethrottle(left)joystick,thenperformCJC.Themotorswillimmediatelystop.Releasethejoysticksassoonasthemotorshavestopped.

7.3 Basic flight

2. Turnonthecontroller,smartphonerangeextenderandX-Drone.

3. WaituntilthetailindicatorflashesslowlyandtheX-Droneentersasafeflyingstate.PerformCJCtostartthemotor.

4. Pushthethrottle(left)joystickupslowlytosmoothlytakeoff.Pleaserefertosection 5.3fordetailedinstructionsoncontrolleroperatinginstructions.

5. Whenlanding,slowlypulldownthethrottlejoysticktomaketheX-Dronedescendslowlytotheground.

6. Afterlandingpullthethrottlejoysticktothelowestpositionandholdfor3secondsoruntilthemotorsstop.

7. Afterthemotorsstop,turnofftheX-Drone,smartphonerangeextenderandtransmitter,oneaftertheother.

7.4 Failsafe protections

IftheX-DronelosessignalfromthecontrollertheAutomaticFlightControlSystemwillreturnittothehomepoint*andlandsafely.ThisreducesthechancesoftheX-Dronegettinglostorcrashingincasethecontrollersignalislost.
