GettingStarted:802.11b/g/nWi-FiScanner

TheScannerprogramisthedefaultfirmwareonyourdevice.Thishasbeen pre-flashed and tested to ensure the device is working asexpected. When you power up the device, this program runsautomatically and scans the air. It then reports the list of SSIDs,BSSIDs, Channel, RSSI, HT20/40 use and Authentication in thevicinity.The restof thisdocumentdiscusseshowtoconnect to thedeviceandviewtheoutputoftheScannerprogramandalsohowtore-flashthescannerprogramonthedeviceifyouneedto.

Scanner:ConnectingonaMac/Linux/WindowsWewillbecommunicatingwiththedeviceusingitsserialportwhichisavailable through theUSB interface.Hence,wewillneeda serialmonitorprogramtotalktoourdevice.

Windows:Step1:DownloadandinstallPuttyfrom

Step2:StartPutty,configuretheSerialLinetoCOMX(findtheportnamebyusingtheDeviceManager)withSpeed921600.ClickOpen.

Step3:

Youshouldnowbeabletoseethescanresultsintabularformatwithinafewseconds.

Linux:WewillbeusingUbuntu,butstepswouldbesimilarforotherLinuxdistributions.

Step1:InstallPutty

Step2:LaunchPutty,selectConnectionTypeasSerial,Speedas921600andSerialLineas/dev/ttyUSB0orthecorrectportpath.

ClickOpentohavePuttyconnecttothedevice.

Step3:Youshouldnowbeabletoseethescanresultstable.Thedeviceautomaticallyinitiatesanewscaneveryfewseconds.

Mac:YouwillhavetoinstalltheCP2102driverstousethedeviceonaMAC.Youcandownloadandinstallthedriversfromhere:

Troubleshooting:

• Ifyoudonotseeanyscanresultsoroutputthenpressandreleasethe“EN”buttononyourdevice.Thisshouldresetthedeviceanditshouldrestartthescanningprogram.

• Ifyoustillhaveproblemswithviewingtheoutputthenitmightbeagoodideatore-flashthedevicewiththefirmware.
