Guarantee and Compensation BARCO provides a guarantee relating to perfect manufacturing as part of the legally stipulated terms of guaran-tee. On receipt, the purchaser must immediately inspect all delivered goods for damage incurred during transport, as well as for material and manufacturing faults. BARCO must be informed immediately in writing of any complaints. The period of guarantee begins on the date of transfer of risks, in the case of special systems and software on the date of commissioning, at the latest 30 days after the transfer of risks. In the event of justified notice of complaint, BARCO can repair the fault or provide a replacement at its own discretion within an appropriate peri-od. If this measure proves to be impossible or unsuccessful, the purchaser can demand a reduction in the pur-chase price or cancellation of the contract (redhibition). All other claims, in particular those relating to compensa-tion for direct or indirect damage, and also damage attributed to the operation of software as well as to other services provided by BARCO, being a component of the system or independent services, will be deemed invalid provided the damage is not proven to be attributed to the absence of properties guaranteed in writing or due to the intent or gross negligence on the part of BARCO. If the purchaser or a third party carries out modifications or repairs on good delivered by BARCO, or if the goods are handled incorrectly, in particular if the systems are commissioned or operated incorrectly or if, after the transfer of risks, the goods are subject to influences not agreed upon in the contract, all guarantee claims of the purchaser will be rendered invalid. Not included in the guarantee coverage are system failures which are at-tributed to programs or special electronic circuitry provided by the purchaser, e. g. interfaces. Normal wear as well as normal maintenance are not subject to the guarantee provided by BARCO either. The environmental conditions as well as the servicing and maintenance regulations specified in this manual must be complied with by the customer.

2. Barco Wall Control Manager in a nutshell

2 Barco Wall Control Manager in a nutshell Barco Wall Control Manager software is a server/client application to manage and control Barco large display walls. The server runs on dedicated hardware, the Green BCM. The Green BCM is a wall router and the gateway to launch the client application.

3. Network integration

3 Network integration The software for monitoring and controlling displays over the LAN is called Barco Wall Control Manager. Barco Wall Control Manager software is a client/server application. Barco Wall Control Manager service runs on the Barco Wall Control Manager wall router (Green BCM). The Green BCM comes with the Barco Wall Control Manager software already installed. The Green BCM wall router has two network interfaces, WALL and CLIENT. The WALL interface is configured as DHCP server and has the fixed IP address 172.29.1.1.

Benefits of DHCP server configuration with fixed IP address:

Any device connected to the DHCP server automatically gets a (short term) IP address.

A PC connected to the DHCP server (i.e. the network cable is plugged into one of the LAN switches of the video wall) can connect to and launch the Green BCM web page. This allows easy configuration of the devices of the video wall.

The CLIENT interface comes with the fixed IP address 192.168.10.1 and is set for manual configuration. The net-work configuration of the CLIENT interface allows integrating the Green BCM into the customer network thus allowing any PC/Laptop/workstation in the customer network to connect to the Green BCM and to run the Green BCM client application to monitor and control the displays. The Barco Wall Control Manager software enables communication to the WALL network via the CLIENT interface. Before integrating the Green BCM into a customer network it is recommended to configure the video wall sub-net. This is a private subnet in the range 172.29.x.y. The drawing below shows the general network setup. The displays are in a private "wall subnet" controlled by the Green BCM. Via the client interface of the respective Green BCM, connection to the customer network (Busi-ness LAN) is established.

Make sure to use cables with shielding of type S-FTP or S-STP when connecting the display to the network!

3. Network integration

After completion of the LAN cabling, power on the Green BCM: Since its WALL interface is configured as DHCP server all connected devices automatically receive a (short term) IP address which is the basis for the configura-tion of the system.

OVD/KVD/IVD displays have two LAN interfaces. It is recommended to setup the wall subnet using LAN1 and keep LAN2 for future use.

Each of the LAN interfaces have a (different) MAC address … thus one display features two MAC addresses.

Therefore for identification of the display the serial number is used which is unique for the display and constant over life time.

LAN1 of the display is connected to the WALL interface of the Green BCM Box! This is the only supported configuration!

A display MUST NOT be connected via LAN1 to WALL interface of Green BCM Box and via LAN2 to CLIENT interface of Green BCM Box!

A display MUST NOT be connected via LAN1 to WALL interface of one Green BCM Box and via LAN2 to WALL interface of a second Green BCM Box!

In case you think of additional ways of connecting a display be aware that these are NOT supported!

3. Network integration

3.1 Video wall subnet: assigning IP addresses

3.1.1 Short term IP addresses Without any manual intervention, the Green BCM DHCP server assigns every device connected to the video wall subnet (WALL interface) the next free IP address. These IP addresses are in the range 172.29.128.x. They are valid as long as the device is connected to the subnet but are released approx. 1 hour after disconnection. The initial setup and configuration of a video wall is done by a PC / Laptop connected to the video wall subnet. Since also this PC gets an IP address of the Green BCM DHCP server this PC as a member of the same subnet can connect to the Green BCM server and allows configuring the wall network.

In case the PC/laptop is not connected to the video wall subnet (LAN switch of the video wall), it needs to be connected to the interface labeled Client, cf. Green BCM Client interface

Temporary IP addresses are assigned in the sequence the devices are connected to the network.

If you want to control the IP address assigment switch on the respective devices one by one, in the desired sequence.

The assignment of the IP addresses can be seen on the web page of Green BCM, page Wall DHCP. The IP addresses show up in the section short term IP address.

To launch the web page, connect a PC/Laptop to the LAN switch of the display wall.

On the PC/Laptop, launch Internet Explorer.

In its address bar, enter the URL of the Green BCM http://172.29.1.1

The web page of Green BCM opens.

On the left navigation bar, select Devices.

Click on the Search button to populate the page or to update the page, respectively.

It is strongly recommended to assign a permanent IP addresses to the displays. This allows launching the web interface of a display from the Green BCM client application (using the link of the IP address shown in the dashboard of a display, cf. 5.4.2 Dashboard of a display

3. Network integration

3.1.2 Permanent IP addresses The section below descibes the method prior BCM 6.3.

Starting with BCM 6.3, assigning permant IP addresses in a structured way is supported in the BCM client.

It is recommended to use this functionality, cf.5.4 Setting up a video wall in Barco Wall Control Manager Client!

Only devices with a short term IP address can be assigned a permanent IP address.

It is recommended to restrict permanent IP addresses to the displays of a video wall.

Any device (represented by its MAC address) which is listed in the section Short Term IP table on the page Wall DHCP of Green BCM can get a permanent IP address. Permanent IP addresses are in the range 172.29.10.x. Click the checkbox(es) to select the desired device(s). Click on Permanent. The device will show up in the section DHCP Permanent IP table. The device will get the next free IP address of the valid address range (172.29.10.x)

Click All to transfer all devices of the Short-term IP table into the Permanent IP Table. The sequence of the permanent IP addresses will be accordingly the sequence of the short term IP addresses (i.e. the device with the lowest short term IP address will receive the first free permanent IP address and so on).

3. Network integration

The addresses in the DCHP Permanent IP table are only valid / active after they had been added to the DHCP server configuration table and after the DHCP server has been restarted.

Restarting the DHCP server is done by clicking Apply on the page Wall DHCP.

The command Add inserts a new blank record into the permanent IP table. This allows entering the MAC address and the IP address from scratch. The command Delete removes a record from the permanent IP table. Add and Delete affect the table on the web page only. The entries of the table are written to the DHCP server configuration table only in case Apply has been clicked. This command restarts the DHCP server. A request to reboot the projection modules is displayed.

3. Network integration

3.2 Green BCM Client interface The LAN interface labeled CLIENT on the Green BCM comes with the static IP address 192.168.10.1. If the PC/Laptop is not a member of the video wall subnet (i.e. connected to the LAN switch of the video wall), the PC/Laptop to configure and control Green BCM needs to connect to the interface of Green BCM via its inter-face labeled CLIENT. Therefore the PC / Laptop needs to get a static IP address in the same address range, e.g. 192.168.10.2. Connect a PC to the CLIENT interface of Green BCM via a network cable. Make sure that the PC is running. Windows 7: Select Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections With the respective adapter selected, click on Change settings of this connection.

On the dialog, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Click Properties.

Make sure to select Use the following IP address and enter IP address, subnet mask and gateway:

3. Network integration

Click OK to activate the new settings and to close the dialog. Also close the properties dialog and the Network Connection window. Now the PC/Laptop is properly connected to the CLIENT interface of Green BCM and can communicate with Green BCM., for example assigning permanent IP addresses to the projection modules, cf. Permanent IP addresses

3. Network integration

3.2.1 Configuring the CLIENT interface Configuring of the client interface is done on the page Network of Green BCM, section Client Network. Leaving factory, the CLIENT IP address is set to 192.168.10.1.; and Configure Green BCM is set to Manually. In case the CLIENT interface needs to be accessible at a different static IP address, enter the desired IP address and adjust Subnet Mask and Gateway accordingly.

Click on Apply to apply the new settings. In case the PC/Laptop is connected to Green BCM via the CLIENT interface, and in case the new static IP address is in a different address range than the previous one, the PC/Laptop won't be able to connect to Green BCM any longer. To re-establish connection, the IP address of the PC/Laptop also needs to be adjusted.

The CLIENT interface can also be configured as DHCP client of the customer network (business LAN). If Configure Green BCM is set to Using DHCP no more parameters need to be set.

In case Configure Green BCM is set to Using DHCP, this interface needs to be connected to a DHCP server (cus-tomer network, business LAN).

All PCs/Laptops connected to the same network (DHCP server) can communicate with Green BCM.

4.6 Network

Green BCM features two network interfaces, one labeled WALL, one labeled CLIENT.

Only the interface labeled CLIENT can be configured.

The WALL interface is fixed.

In case you change the configuration of the Client Network the new settings are immediately applied. The command Apply activates the settings and restarts the DHCP server, i.e. it writes the permanent IP address-es into its configuration table and also updates the table with the short term IP addresses (if a device has been deleted from the table, or if a device has been disconnected from the network. New discovered devices are im-mediately listed; no restart of the DHCP server is required).

4.7 Wall DHCP

Starting with BCM 6.3, the BCM client offers a structured assignment of permanent IP addresses during setup of the display wall. It is recommended to use this functionality, cf. 5.4 Setting up a video wall in Barco Wall Control Manager Client

When using IP re-addressing in the client, you don’t need to work with the Wall DHCP page of Green BCM.

The network interface of Green BCM labeled WALL is configured as DHCP server. Any device connected to this interface automatically gets an IP address. This IP address is in the short-term address range 172.29.128.x. A short term IP address is leased for 1 hour; in case the device gets disconnected, its short term IP address will be released. If required this address will be assigned to another device detected in the video wall network. Besides the short term IP addresses Barco Wall Control Manager Software offers to assign a permanent IP ad-dress to a device. The MAC address of the device and the assigned IP address are stored as a pair in the configu-ration table of the Green BCM DHCP server. In principle all devices listed in the Short-term IP table can get a permanent IP address: select the device (tick the checkbox), and then click Permanent: the device will get the next free permanent IP address and be listed in the Permanent IP table.

The buttons Permanent, Add, Delete "just work on web browser level".

To actually apply the changes you need to click Apply! This command re-starts the DHCP server, the entries of the Permanent IP table get copied to the configuration table of the DHCP server.

A device which is either disconnected from the network, or which MAC Address has been added to the configuration table of the network, will be removed automatically from the short term IP address table at the next time the DHCP server "looks for devices"(at max. after an hour)

4. Green BCM web interface

The command Add creates an empty record in the table which allows entering MAC Addresses/IP addresses from scratch. The command Delete removes the record from the table (Add and Delete refer to web browser level, see above). The DHCP Permanent IP table allows editing the MAC address and the IP address. Thus the IP address can be given according the position in the video wall. To apply the new MAC address or IP address, respectively, the checkbox needs to be ticked when clicking the Apply button!

To activate any changes in the permanent IP table requires

• To restart the DHCP server (click Apply) • To restart the Green BCM server (On the Green BCM web interface, navigate to BCM

Services. Click on Tasks- BCM Service -restart – now the new address gets visible in Green BCM. (see screen below))

• To reboot the display (launch the web interface of the display and push the reboot button (see screen below))

5. Barco Wall Control Manager Client application

5.3 Overview The Barco Wall Control Manager software is a server/client application to control and operate Barco's video walls.

The server application runs on the Green BCM which is a component of every video wall. All displays of a video wall are connected to the WALL interface of the Green BCM. It is via the DHCP server configured for this interface that all displays get automatically a unique IP address in the short IP address range (which can then be made permanent on the Wall DHCP web page of Green BCM).

All actions different from assigning IP addresses and configuration settings are done using the Barco Wall Control Manager client.

• Creating/deleting a wall

• Assigning devices to a wall

• Color and brightness adjustment of a display (fine tuning SenseX)

• Brightness adjustment of the entire wall

• Selection of color temperature of the entire wall

• Switching a display on/idle

• Switching the video wall on/idle

• Selecting the active input of a display

• Selecting the active input of a wall

It is via the user interface of the client application that commands are sent to the server which addresses the respective display

The manual describes the currently available functions within the Green BCM client application.

The web interface of the displays provides additional functionalities like selecting a timing, uploading firmware and so on.

The web interface of a display can easily accessed via the IP address shown in the dashboard of the display, cf.5.4.2 Dashboard of a display :

The web interface is explained in the Reference Manual Webinterface OVD/KVD/IVD.

5.4 Setting up a video wall in Barco Wall Control Manager Client When Barco Wall Control Manager client is launched and no wall has been created yet the web page just shows the command buttons:

The settings button allows switching on and off the visibility of tool tips.

The tool tips show helpful information about the controls of the user interface.

It is recommended to have them visible (checked) until you are familiar with the BCM client.

This setting is stored cookies based for the current host user and browser. There is no browser or BCM user specific storage.

Use CTRL + (+/- mouse-wheel) for browser based zooming. Be aware that scaling is not unlimited and depends on wall size and browser resolution.

Click SETUP: The initial setup screen pops up.

Enter the dimensions of your video wall (Video wall Width, Video wall Height) and a descriptive name. (The name of the video wall can be edited later).

Make sure that IP Readdressing is checked! This will later assign DHCP based permanent IP addresses to the displays in a structured way (from top left to bottom right)

Click Assign: The Green BCM looks for the all the devices it finds in the wall subnet. The serial numbers of all found devices are listed gray.

Since there are two LAN interfaces and thus two MAC addresses, the serial number of the display is used as identifier.

The first serial number in the list is highlighted blue. In the video wall, the display with this serial number starts blinking (black-white pattern).

Click into the corresponding cell in the wall grid (display position) to assign the display with this serial number. The font color changes to green. In case this device must not be assigned to this display wall, click SKIP.

The next serial number in the list is ready to be assigned only if the previous serial number has either been assigned or skipped.

Proceed accordingly until all cells in the grid show a green tick, i.e. every cell is linked to a display.

(To unassign a device, click into the respective cell in the grid. Subsequently push the button Unassign.) Click Done. If IP Readdressing is ticked, the displays will now get a permanent IP address in a structured way, row-wise, from top left to bottom right (seen from front). In case the display is set to a static IP address, it will be skipped. Before IP readdressing is processed, an info dialog is shown which allows skipping the readdressing.

If confirmed with OK, readdressing is started. At first the DHCP table of Green BCM is adapted. After adapting the GBCM DHCP table all displays will be triggered to request new DHCP addresses. There is no restart/reboot of the system and displays needed to finish the IP readdressing. Displays which are configured with static IP addresses will be ignored in that procedure and not changed. After pressing "Ok" on the IP readdressing info dialog it can take several minutes (depending on the amount of displays) before the new IP addresses have been assigned. During the readdresseing, the displays modules on the wall dashboard will disconnect and show connection specific status messages When readdressing has been finised (or skipped), the Home screen now shows the dashboard of the video wall. With KVD and IVD displays, after setting up a display wall, a brightness scheduler is displayed: You might configure the scheduler later using the button Manage, cf.6.6 Manage.

The following table lists the color and the related device status: Status indicator Connection state Operation state

Green connected On

Gray connected Idle

Orange/Amber connecting unknown

Red/White Error/disconnected unknown

If one of the display disconnects from the network, it will take about 30-35 seconds until the display is shown as error/disconnected. The central status indicator of a displays module on the BCM-UI wall dashboard is alternating between text “re-trying”, “connecting” while trying to establish or re-establish a connection to a display for the first ~200s after disconnect of the network connection. After that "retrying" will be shown constantly indicating a switch to ping based availability check which will con-tinue until a connection can be established again. It's not necessary to trigger a reconnect manually if the disconnect takes more than ~200s. A red error sausage indicates a problem with the connection mechanism itself. This might happen just after starting-up the GBCM or BCM service. This is not a problem and related to availability of the service connection module. The error indicator will disappear when the BCM service is ready. To leave the dasboard of the display, click „Back to Overview“: if you visited the dashboard of the display starting from Home screen, you will then be redirected to the Home screen of the display wall. (Clicking “Back to Overview”) if dashboard has been activated on the Control screen will redirect to the Control screen of the display wall.)

For manual color adjustment, click NATIVE. To change color in NATIVE mode (red gain, green gain, blue gain), launch the web interface of the device and navigate to Color&Brightness.

It takes some time until the displays and all properties are updated.

Display properties are being polled by the server from the display at constant rate in the background. This takes around 20 -25 secs until all displays and all properties are updated. Refreshing a browser window e.g. by pressing F5 will not shorten this time since it will not trigger a polling cycle.

6.4 Brightness On the Brightness panel you set the brightness of the backlight. For maximum brightness performance push the slider to the right, for more economic operation set the backlight to lower levels and push the slider to the left. The brightness linearly scales along with the backlight level. In NATIVE mode, brightness can be set in the range from 0 to +100 (like in the web interface of the device). In SenseX operation mode, values in the BRIGHTNESS control panels are in cd/m². The current brightness value is written in big. The available range to set brightness is indicated by the grey bar.

The brightness is not adjusted during pushing the slider but only if the set value is fix for 5 seconds. Only then the adjustment is triggered. Brightness adjustment to the set value is also triggered when navigating to this page or when refreshing (F5) the content of this page. The target brightness is applied to all displays; however due to production tolerances of the displays the display wall might still show some inhomogeneity in brightness. Thus brightness adjustment of the individual displays might be required. Adjusting the brightness of a single display offers a slider for individual brightness adjustment.

Please note that it takes some time until all displays and properties are updated. F5 (refreshing browser window) does not help.

6.5 Contrast Contrast can be set on the entire wall only, not on an individual display. The CONTRAST control panel offers two sliders, one for black level and one for white level. The Black Level and White Level are used to adjust levels of video signals.

Increase the black level to achieve better visibility in dark areas of images, lower it down to achieve more satu-ration of colors. Increase the white level in case the video signal doesn’t utilize the full dynamic range to achieve more bright-ness After pushing the sliders the settings need to be constant for 5 seconds before adjustment to the set value is triggered. The adjustment procedure is also triggered when navigating to this page or when refreshing (F5) the content of this page.

It takes some time until the displays and all properties are updated.

Display properties are being polled by the server from the display at constant rate in the background. This takes around 20 -25 secs until all displays and all properties are updated.
