Personal identity : Rolling stone magazine tries to talk about celebrities or characters who their readers can identify with, here Glee TV drama, and their student characters

Diversion: a music magazine is made in order to escape from our life, and be immersed in a music and enjoyable environment.

Surveillance: Rolling stone show to its readers what is going on around them, and for example here, what the news about the actress playing Sue Sylvester in Glee.

Personal relationship : the magazine make people believe that they are a part of a community allowing them to participate to the magazine’s life : in this case, to vote for a poll
