Dear Students,
WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA ST. PETERSBURG!
We are excited to have you join our community and hope that this
will be a year of exciting opportunities and memorable experiences.
There are many great activities and events planned for you during
the Week of Welcome. These events are designed for you to learn more
about USFSP and encourage you to get involved throughout this year,
and throughout your career, at USFSP. This week you will be able to meet
student leaders at the Student Government Luau, learn about available
resources during Commuter Dine and Dash, and attend various
entertainment events such as Casino Night and the Main Sail Comedy

One of the primary goals of the Department of Student Life &
Engagement is for you to have an enjoyable and meaningful experience
outside of the classroom. We hope that this week will allow you to
connect with other USFSP students, learn about the many ways to get
involved in the campus and local community, and get
excited about your future at USFSP. Our staff is ready to
meet you and assist in getting your USFSP experience
started. We are thrilled you are here and wish you much
success this year!

Safety on Campus at All Times
Some precautions are wise day and night, no matter how safe you feel on campus.
Always be alert. Keep your head up and know your surroundings.
Stay in areas with a lot of people. A crime is less likely to occur if there are many
witnesses.
Try to let at least one person know where you are going and when you are expected to
return.
Carry a whistle or other type of alarm so you can grab someone's attention in
case of an emergency.
At home, keep your doors and windows locked. Don't let someone in until you
know who it is.
Safety on Campus at Night Special safety measures should be taken at night.
Use well-lit paths on- and off-campus. Avoid dark streets, where criminals can
hide.
Walk in pairs or in a group. The more eyes, the better.
Know how to contact campus police or city officers. Their phone numbers
should be posted near your phone in your residence hall or off-campus
apartment. It's a good idea to have the numbers programmed into your cell
phone as well.
