Using a Digital Projector and Airliner tablet

The purpose of this short training session is to familiarize presenters with the basics of

using both a digital projector and an Smartboard Airliner Tablet

A typical laptop keyboard

Note Fn key and F8/CRT/LCD

On all PC notebook keyboards you'll find a “Fn” or function key next to the “Ctrl” and

“Windows” key.Note that the “Fn” key is blue. Note too that there are other “blue” keys subscripted on

your keyboard.

Cables

VGA cable connects laptop to digital projector—no connection—no picture.

The rear of the laptop computer

The VGA connector has the same trapezoidal shape that the VGA cable has and is usually “blue”.

Rear of Projector Look for “blue” VGA connector Make sure VGA connector from laptop is

properly connected.

Top of Projector

Power button to the left on the top of the projector. It should have a “green glow” if it is connected to AC power.

Lights, camera, action...

If both projector and computer are turned on and the cable is connected you should have an image on your screen following projector start-up.

If not check your cable and keyboard

Airliner wireless slate

The Airliner Wireless slate is an extension of your whiteboard and your keyboard. It is connected to your notebook computer by Bluetooth wireless technology. You can be up to 50 feet away.

Turning on the Airliner

At the top left is a small button. Make sure that it is depressed and blinking. initially it must connect to the Bluetooth

connection on your computer. after the connection is made the light on the

Airliner will remain solid and light blue.

Using the surface

Stylus-you may use the stylus which is stored in a slot at the top of the tablet.

Mouse-you can use the wireless mouse if you feel more comfortable with this.

Recommendations

Practice with the stylus. It's a new interface and while handy has different performance than a typical computer mouse.
