Using a Scanner

Start the Scan
Start the scan by going to Start – Programs – HP PrecisionScan – HP PrecisionScan or by pressing the scan button.

Select What You Want
Select the region to scan by clicking on the Select Tool and dragging with the mouse.
The space inside the dotted boundary will be saved as the image.

Set the Resolution
Click on the Settings tab and set the resolution.
DPI (dots per inch) is set dependent on intended use, in general:
lower for web; higher for print. Lower for big things, higher for small things.

Set the Resolution75 dpi: 23.5 kilobytes
or 24,134 bytes
500 dpi: 1.01 megabytes
or 1,063,974 bytes

Set the Resolution25 dpi: 168 kilobytes
or 173,046 bytes
150 dpi: 5.8 megabytes
or 6,170,700 bytes

Click the Accept button.

Name the file something meaningful.
Select the file type from the drop down menu.
Choose where you want to save the file to.
