CONCLUSIONS• Digimap data allowed me to find many sites like this, and I have now built up

a gazetteer of over 115 quarries around the central sector of Hadrian’s Wall. • The historical maps are able to show that this site in particular was not used

as a quarry in at least the last 150 years. • I have found the data easy to access and download even as a person with no

formal training in GIS/using special data. • Some of the data I have used can not be included on digimap (such as the

older maps at the NMS) but it would potentially be useful to add the data from BGS Britpits, English Heritage and Environmental Agency LiDAR.

• Although Digimap has a Q&A section and a video guide for using ROAM it could produce more guides or tutorials for students using the data for people such as myself with no training in GIS.
