Why do mood and anxiety disorders diagnosis matter?

Mood and anxiety disorders are an indicator of mental health—a major part of Winnipeggers’ well-being. Mood and anxiety disorders, and mental illness more broadly, affectmany aspects of well-being, including: 1.Employment: The unemployment rate of people with serious mental illnesses is in the range of 70 to 90 per cent 2.The economy: According to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, mental illness costs the Canadian economy an estimated $51 billion per year.

3.Safety: People with mental illnesses are more than twice as likely to be victims of crime.

4.Physical health: Mental and physical health are intimately linked: people with serious mental health conditions are at high risk of chronic physical conditions and vice versa.
