PERSISTENCETHROUGH THE YEARS
Nature Knit was established in 2004 with the aim to enrich the premium
cashmere fashion industry in Nepal and take cashmere to new heights. Cashmere from the Himalayas has always been famous for its undeniable quality and warmth, but what also needed to be looked into was the quality of the fi nal product.
Since the founding of Nature Knit, my core focus has been on producing the best quality cashmere and delivering it on time, while providing the craftsmen a calm work environment. This has been our strength. Personally, I strive for excellence in work and have never compromised on quality, and we aim to maintain this standard in the future.
It’s been a year of achievement for us, in which we received the CIP award in the cashmere sector. Our technical and management team has played a key role in our production line, and we work with a strong team of individuals with the expertise needed to consistently deliver high quality products to our clients.
In the past couple years, we introduced
a program empowering women in Nepal. Nature Knit trains underprivileged women in various aspects of cashmere production, which enables them to fi nd employment. Now we have a workforce of over 300, and 70% of them are women. It’s been a delight to see how the program has brought about a huge change in the society these women live in.
Good management is Nature Knit’s biggest strength. To better serve our clients, we’ve developed a custom ERP system, which support on time product delivery. Our research and development department works around the clock to develop and test new techniques to stay ahead of the latest trends.

We make our products from the best SGS-tested yarns. We have a diverse range of knitted cashmere
products for both men and women, as well as for children; our sweaters, pullovers, cardigans and other cashmere accessories are available across the world under the branding of leading clothing companies.
Adhering to global standard production processes, at NatureKnit, we utilize traditional Nepalese hand-knitting techniques in fl at knitting machines during the working. At the same time, our manufacturing processes are auto-systemized using advanced software, merging the best of both works to create luxury knitwear that has a vintage feel. Our multiple hand-knitting machines are capable of large production on short time limits without compromising on quality and creation accuracy. At NatureKnit, the manufacturing process begins with the knitting of various sub-parts such as the sleeves, the necks and the torsos, which are then linked together by hand on advanced linking machines. The knitting process is auto-systemized by ERP software, thus ensuring fl awless garments that highlight the best of modern and traditional techniques. Further, our department-specifi c Quality Control Desk inspects all garment pieces for holistic fl aws and any other errors during the manufacturing process. It is only after the products are quality-guaranteed that we label the cashmere, before packing them for dispatch.

Nepal, home to some of the world’s highest mountains, is also famous for
the quality of its pashmina, which comes from the fi nest quality cashmere wool from the high mountain. Nepalese textiles have had a long and illustrious history, with Nepalese pashmina being renowned as one of the world’s best.
Continuing in that fi ne tradition, we use the fi nest quality of cashmere wool to weave pashmina shawls, muffl ers, scarves, warmers, blankets and other products. Further, using the best of traditional Nepalese techniques, international designs are embellished into the garments, bringing out a product that can be held up to the highest of standards.
At Natureknit, we believe in the authenticity of our products; we utilize hand-weaving techniques to the fullest in every way. Our pure cashmere shawls are hand-loomed to preserve the softness that would otherwise deteriorate on an automatic high-vibrating weaving loom.
Our yarns are warped on wooden frames by traditional methods. The hand loom is a painstaking process that requires uniformity and utmost precision. Yet, that is how we at NatureKnit believe the exquisite luxury of cashmere shawls emerge. We further hand-massage all our woven products to release the stiff ness in the wool, before quality-checking them under the highest international standards for packing and delivery.
Despite our focus on traditional Nepalese methods, we believe in utilizing modern technological innovations to deliver the fi nest product to our customers. For our yarns, the scouring, carding, warping, shedding and opening processes all use these technological innovations to make both tight-spun and light-spun varieties of yarn. The production process is controlled by an expert team of textile engineers, and our digital database ensures fl awless cashmere shawls, scarves and other woven garments for our customers.

Embellishments
NatureKnit’s printing department specializes in creating vibrant patterns that suit contemporary international
designs as well as traditional ones. Our printing is done using stencils in screens with a coated mesh; the squeegee is manually used over the mesh to print the patterns on the fabric base. We create designs according to orders meticulously, and maintain a high level of quality during the imprinting process.

We run effi cient Enterprise Resource Planning software to fully integrate our production house with the
software tracking system to generate a Bill of Materials (BOM), digital profi le matching and a customer-specifi c user login. The ERP, with advanced textile manufacturing abilities, ensures a smooth and reliable production process by integrating the production with a digital supervision system. The digital supervision is synced with human
inspection of the products. Furthermore, all our clients are provided with a user ID to access the BOM and the database, and to follow up on the production process and communication with company. One of the challenging aspects of building a corporate culture
is to nurture a sense of social responsibility within a company’s core values. We strive to focus on solving multidisciplinary social challenges that exist in Nepalese society. A simple transfer of funds is not enough for economic and human development. Our CSR activities are planned around this idea.
One of the major issues in primary education in Nepal today is the dropout rate of children – students drop out of school for several reasons, despite their education being funded by external sources. To this end, Nature Knit invests in increasing access to education for children of marginalized and underprivileged employees by sponsoring their education at private schools and ensuring quality education up to the higher secondary level.
Today the major issue faced by
Nepalese society is the patriarchy and the resulting inequality between men and women. Viewing this, we conduct skill development trainings for women and deprived community members to help them earn their living. Further, to promote women’s active participation, we provide transportation facilities to our employees. 80 percent of our workforce constitutes of women.
As a skill-based industry, we are committed to uplifting Nepal’s micro-level entrepreneurship by organizing skill workshops. These trainings emphasize on modern techniques for embellishments, garment-making and textile production to update workers’ skills. By doing this, we upgrade the skill-set of our manpower, which subsequently increases the quality and competence of textile production & encourages entrepreneurship.
Employees at Nature Knit get life insurance and a retirement plan. Their medical expenses are covered. Our
in-house CSR fund operates employee facilities and healthcare supports. We provide periodic incentives along with a bonus facility, as well as performance pay and annual salary upgrades. These initiatives resulted in lower rates of absenteeism and lower turnovers as compared to the industry.
One of our ideals has been to give back to the society the company operates in. This year, we have further expanded our continuous support to community schools. “Babai Sisu School” in Bardiya and “Bhumeshwor High School” in Baitadi received Projectors, Laptops and educational materials from Natureknit. At Kavre, we setup a cow farm for “Shree Sansari Devi Primary School”, for the school to be self-sustainable with additional income generation.
