Why is the O.P.A.C important to me?

It is a list of every item in the library collection

It makes accessing the library materials easier

for students and teachers.

Let’s Get Started! Follow along and

complete the search on your computer as

the program proceeds.

Step 1: Click on the Mozilla icon on the

Desktop

Step 2: Along the top bar click on Library Search.

This screen will open.

There are many ways to search for materials.

Keyword Title

Author Subject

Power Search Visual Search

Step 3 :Choose a search type

Library Search

Use the Library Search to search by Keyword, Title, Author or Subject

Let’s Perform a Keyword Search for George Washington. Type George Washington in the

Find box, then click on Keyword.

Here are the results from our Keyword “George Washington” search.

Let’s Perform a Subject Search for Dogs. Type Dogs in the Find box, then click on Subject.

A Power Search can be used when you want to be very specific. This is an example of a Power Search for Dog, Cat, and Lion. It resulted in the one book in the collection with those three tags.

A Visual Search is a great student introduction to searching for materials in the collection. To

begin a Visual Search click on Visual Search on the Library Search Home Screen.

The Visual Search page will open. Users can click on any category of interest.

Let’s do a Visual Search for Animals. Click on the Animals picture on the Visual Search page.

There are many categories of animals. Let’s click on Bears to see the available materials.

Here are the results from our Visual Search for Bears. These books all have a Bears tag.

any title to get more information about any book in the collection.
