USS FULTON-AS-11 ASSOCIATION
NEWSLETTER Volume XIX Issue 6 Jan. Feb, Mar., 2018
President’s Message Greetings to all our Fulton family and friends. Much has gone one out here in the Nebraska “Tundra” since the last Newsletter.
Many snow storms, ice storms, and a blizzard or two. This has caused a lot of storms to run out east creating the North Easters for the folks up in New England.
The Reunion planning is well under way and is beginning to yield much. I am still working on a special guest speaker for the banquet. I hope it is very special for our membership as well.
Cathy has been a great help in keeping me on track with the FULTON reunion planning.
Of late I have come down with a severe case of a cold followed by bronchitis and is now a sinus infection. I most likely got this mung from all the mail handling at the Post Office…Cathy thanks me at least 4-5 time a day for passing it along.
This issue contains a rather large section of condolences. While searching for information regarding Flags, Obituaries for FULTON crew members came up…most of which have never been memorialized.
Again, the Reunion will be held at the Omaha Comfort Inn and Suites on 7007 Grover Street, Omaha, NE.68106. Reserve your stay directly with the Hotel. Call 402-934-4900 and ask for the USS FULTON reunion dates 12 Sept. thru 16 Sept. 2018…

Chaplain’s Corner
Wow, 2018… 18 years after Y2K,
when everything was to come to a
screeching halt. Somehow, the
computers and everything else seem to
just keep chugging along, as we roll
into a new year.
We will have a series of new
benchmarks ending in "18." For Julie
and me, the youngest grandson, David,
will be 18.
We will all have new birthdays to
celebrate, graduations and weddings to
attend, and at least one reunion to
attend.
This year -- as other years -- we will
have a time for razing, a time for
mending, a time for mourning, a time
for rejoicing, a time for forgiving and
forgetting, and a time for remembering.
There were three things that started me
on this train of thought: (1) the reunion
in Omaha, Nebraska, (2) the end of
World War I on November 11, 1918,
and (3) Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3.

New England Breakfast Bunch
The New England Breakfast Bunch got
together at the Mohegan Sun Casino of the
Earth’s Season’s Buffet on Wednesday at
0930 for breakfast on 10 January 2018.
Everyone paid their own way in. We sit
together and tell sea stories and fairy-tales,
until the time someone had to depart, then we
take a group photograph of the BK-Brunch for
the next newsletter. You do not have to be a
member to participate. Wives, Friends, etc.
are welcomed.
Our next get-together will be 11 April 2018.

The Lord is my pilot, I shall not go adrift. He
guides my passage across dark waters. He
steers me through deep channels. He Keeps
my log. He pilots me by the evening star for
my safety’ sake.
Yea, though I sail amid the thunders and
tempest of life, I shall fear no peril, for He is
with me. The vastness of His sea upholds me.
Surely fair winds and safe harbors Shall be
found, and I shall moor, fast and secure,
forever.
Cards, Letters and other news from
our Fulton Family Cathy and I just received a letter from Mrs
Clyda Phillips. “We have received
information concerning the upcoming reunion
for the Fulton Association. It is with much
sadness that I must tell you that my husband
Clemit Phillips passed away on December 29,
2016. He served in the US Navy from
December, 1950 until October, 1954 and his
rank was FP2. He loved serving aboard the
Fulton. Thank you for all you do in planning
the reunions and I hope this upcoming one will
be a happy time for all who attends.” Very
truly yours Clyda…”
