Postgraduate qualifications in Health Services Management from UTS are highly respected. Developed with the NSW and QLD Ministries of Health, the courses go beyond generic management skills to include clinical components and a specialised health focus that makes graduates particularly valuable to employers.

Inspired LearningOur unique approach to learning reengineers subjects to enable students to experience a seamless integration of the best of online and face-to-face on campus learning.

Off campus, you will access digital resources and undertake tasks at a time and place that suits you.

Each subject includes several intensive study days on campus. UTS is in the midst of a $1 billion City Campus redevelopment. As striking as the designs are, it isn’t just about what you’ll see on the outside – it’s as much, or more, about what it will enable on the inside.

UTS Model of Learning > Provides research-inspired and academically rigorous learning.

> Integrates exposure to professional practice.

> Encourages international mobility and engagement.

> Employs cutting-edge technology > Stimulates life-long learning.

Your Learning Cycle > UTS helps you define and articulate your individual learning goals.

> You gain access to ideas and content, whether online or in innovative learning spaces.

> Live case studies and engagement with mentors allow you to make sense of, and test, your ideas.

> Academics, leading professionals and your peers provide feedback on the strength of your learning.

> Finally, you’ll reflect on what you’ve learnt and how you’ve progressed, which will position you to set new learning goals.

Increasingly recognised as a separate discipline, Clinical Leadership encompasses organisational and people management, governance and risk management, and safety and quality imperatives. It focuses on improving patient and organisational outcomes through minimising risk and implementing processes that increase efficiency and effectiveness, especially those around human factors and information management.

UTS has worked closely with our partners to take the best of safety and quality in healthcare principles and combine this with cutting edge content on health management, health informatics and risk management – especially in relation to human factors.

This degree is best suited for people who want to progress to the level of Director and/or manage a portfolio within a health service, particularly in the area of clinical governance.

Health Services Planning is a niche, but critical role in health services as they evolve, expand and restructure. Health planners conduct needs analysis, develop goals and strategies, select appropriate interventions, and manage change in highly complex and robust environments. They are employed in health departments, local health networks and districts, or in private or corporate consultancy positions.

This course has been developed in consultation with senior planning staff from NSW and Queensland Health to ensure students are exposed to a variety of contemporary planning methodologies. It is the only degree level course in Australia that is taught by practising senior health planners.

It is ideal for experienced planners wishing to strengthen their skills or obtain formal qualifications, recently appointed planners who want to gain in depth knowledge, and those who are interested in pursuing a career in this area.
