Industry Commitment & EducationBURNDY takes its commitment to the design and manufacture of quality utility connectors very seriously. Our engineering team has centuries of combined experience in serving the electrical industry. Another vitalaspect to development of connectors to take us into the 21st century and beyond is our in-house engineeringtest laboratory located in the BURNDY Headquarters building in Manchester, New Hampshire. The test labcertifies and tests tools and connector products to the following standards:

ANCE ANSI ASTM CSA IEC IEEE Military

With a team of skilled technicians our test lab is capable of performing many types of testing including:

Electrical - Current Cycle, Fault Current, EMF, Corona, and more Environmental - Freeze Thaw, Salt Spray, Industrial Contiminants, and more Mechanical - Sustained Load, Pullout, Secureness, Fatigue, Clamp Slip Metallurgical - Grain Structure, Heat Treatment, Failure Analysis

We also contract with world reknown test laboratories throughout the Americas to qualify new designs thatsupport new industry solutions and installation practices.

We are active members of many committees specific to the utility industry including:

    ANSI CIGRE CSA

    ECNE

Education - Past, Present and Future:

Established in 1941 by Bern Dibner, the BURNDY Library, anextensive collection of the History of Science and Technologypublications with a concentrated focus on the physicalsciences, was just thefirst step in the companys continuingdedication to education. Today, building on Bern Dibners visionof sharing and expanding knowledge continually, BURNDYworks closely with the Northwest Lineman College.

    BURNDY

is also a strong supporter of local science andengineering education programs. For over ten years BURNDYhas been contributing engineering time, resources, andfinancial donations to one of the local high schools FIRSTRobotics team. FIRSTs mission is to inspire students of allages to seek careers in science, engineering and technologyfields. Alumni of Team 501 - The Power Knights have hadinternships with BURNDY during their college education, some accepting positions with us after graduation and evenvolunteering to mentor the high school FIRST team and thecycle continues. BURNDY also supports local and regionalcolleges with internship programs on an annual basis.

    Local Connections:

BURNDY offers customers localUtility-focused sales representatives people that work directly for us along with a small select groupof manufacturers representatives. Maintaining a local sales force to support our customers brings anunderstanding of local requirements and knowledge of the systems in the area that other manufacturers

cant offer. With design support and testing lab facilities in Manchester, New Hampshire, BURNDY providesthe best in technical support and customer services available in the industry.

    Connection Forensics:

In part due to our long history in the industry as well as the servicesour lab can offer, BURNDY has been where people turn when adifficulty arises. At times well receive a connection from a customerthat has been removed from service, where a failure or hotspot hasoccurred. We are asked for an analysis and recommendation forfuture installations. Whether BURNDY product or not, well reviewthe application and examine the product to help determine a rootcause of the failure or concern. Typically, the use of an incorrectdie or insufficient wire preparation is the key shortcoming of theconnection. Our goal in these analyses is to assist in providingrecommendations for improvement, clarify application requirements, and increase awareness of theimportance of proper connections. This is just another example of our commitment to helping whereverpossible in developing a strong electrical infrastructure for all consumers.

    Training and Project Management

BURNDY regularly hosts training sessions for utility and industry organization personnel and our localsalespeople throughout the US also will provide on-site training. With more than two decades of line

experience, our Utility Lineman Demonstrator provides training services for our entire portfolio of Utilityproducts. He also acts as our liaison with the Northwest Lineman College curriculum. His industry andfieldexperience is an essential element of our new product development efforts. In addition, BURNDY maintainstwofield-based Project Managers who work exclusively with EPCs, Contractors, and utility professionals, utilizing their combined expertise in design, line installation, andfield sales. They are integral members ofour Utility team, providing customer training, certification classes, and project management expertise for ourIMPLO line of transmission products and supporting our Utilityfield sales team, products, and services.

BURNDY has data mining capabilities that we are willing to share with Utility Project Services Groups relatingto Transmission and Substation activity. In addition, our proprietary software used for vibration control spacinghas the ability to save users money on projects in addition to other time saving products. Take advantage of allwe have to offer in the ever growing transmission market.

    Support & ServicesExpertise:

Our Utility Team includes engineers, sales representatives, designpersonnel, laboratory technicians, product management, quality control,

and specification personnel. Ourengineering team alone has centuriesof combined experience serving theelectrical industry.
