History Uttar Pradesh, abbreviated U.P., is a state located

in northern India. It was created on 1 April 1937 as the United Provinces with the passing of the States Reorganization Act and renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950. Uttar Pradesh in one of the most ancient cradles of Indian culture The various towns of Uttar Pradesh tell the story of gods who lived in Ayodhya and Mathura and about the reminders that the kings and queens of yesteryears left before them in Agra. Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh Kanpur is the economic and industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh the fifth largest Indian state by area.

Agra Fort was originally a brick fort, held by the Hindu Sikarwar Rajputs. It was mentioned for the first time in 1080 AD when a Ghaznavide force captured it. In this fort are some of the most beautiful buildings India has ever seen like Divan-e-Aam, Divan-eKhas and Shish Mahal.

Fatehpur Sikri

It is at Fatehpur Sikri that the legends of Akbar and his famed courtiers, the nine jewels or Navaratnas, were born . Fatehpur Sikri is one of the best preserved collection of Mughal architecture in India Fatehpur Sikri where there are some beautiful monuments like Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal and Salim Chisti Tomb. The resting place of Akbar, Sikandra is attractive because of its fusion architecture.

Varanasi Varanasi(also called Kashi and Benares) is

widely considered to be the second oldest city in the world after Jerusalem. During Janmaashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, there are huge festivities in the region. For are creation Mathura is the Athens of India. The great school of sculpture known as Mathura school of Art flourished here for 1200 Years.

Famous Temples Kalya Ghata: It is said that Lord Krishna killed Kalya, the monster of a snake that lived in this river. And so the temple is a holy shrine. Radha-Madan Mohan temple : The Radha-Madan Mohan temple was built at a time when the place was full of forest. The original idol was taken to Rajasthan to keep it from harms way during the reign of Aurangzeb when the fanatic and intolerant Mughal soldiers used to destroy everything that had any remote connection with Hinduism.

Govinda dev temple: The temple is a testimony of the architectural splendour of medieval India. Originally seven stories high, it's upper four stories were destroyed during the reign of Aurangzeb. The Krishna idol was then removed to Jaipur .

Krishna Balaram Temple: arguably the most popular temple of Vrindavan. Devotees from all over the world come here and pray. Maintained by International Society of Krishna Consciousness.

How to reach Mathura Air:

The nearest airport from Mathura is at Kheria in Agra. It is just 60 kilometers from the city center of Mathura. Nearly all the major private and public carriers offer their service to the city Rail: Mathura lies on the main lines of both Central as well as Western Railways. Various Expresses as well as Super fast trains run to and from the city of Mathura Road: Delhi (Delhi) to Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) is 150 km.Time by road is 2 hrs, 10 mins.

Ayodhya

Hindus believe the birthplace of Rama to be in Ayodhya at the place called Ram Janmabhoomi, the site of the demolished Babri Mosque. Ayodhya is also the birthplace of five Tirthankars, including the first Tirthankar of Jainism, Shri Rishabh Dev. He is known as the father of Jain religion.

Ayodhya reached its glorious peak as known to history during the reign of the Guptas over India.Tulsidas is said to have begun the writing of his famous Ramayana poem Shri Ramacharitamanas in Ayodhya in 1574 CE.

The Atharva Veda called Ayodhya "a city built by gods and being as prosperous as paradise itself".

Janmabhoomi - Rama Janma Bhoomi is where Lord Rama was said to have taken birth. There is a small Lord Rama temple here.

Guptar Ghat - At Guptar Ghat there are some nice temples, and nearby there is a nice park. Gupta means disappearance. It is said that Rama left His body at this place.

Ramkot

- The chief place of worship in Ayodhya is the site of the ancient citadel of Ramkot, which stands on an elevated ground in the western part of the city.

Famous Temples Nageshwarnath Temple: The

temple of Nageshwarnath is said to have been established by Kush, the son of Rama. It was by means of this temple that Vikramaditya was able to locate Ayodhya and the sites of different shrines here. The festival of Shivratri is celebrated here with great pomp & show. Treta-Ke-Thakur: This temple

stands at the place, where Rama is said to have performed the Ashvamedha Yagya.

Ayodhya is in Lucknow. Lucknow airport is 140 odd Kilometers from the city. ROAD:Ayodhya is well connected to other important towns in Uttar Pradesh through a good network of National as well as State Highways. Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation as well as other private players plies buses to and from Ayodhya. RAIL:Ayodhya is situated on the broad gauge Northen Railway line on Mughal SaraiLucknow main route and is connected with all major cities.

Lucknow Lucknow has one of the most beautiful

monuments in India. There are buildings built in the Hindu Buddhist styles and Royal memorials and monuments of Indo-Islamic architecture Buildings constructed in Avadh and Sharqi styles of architecture are also remarkable. Moti Mahal The Nawab of Lucknow, Saadat Ali Khan, constructed it. The Lucknow Moti Mahal is also known as Palace of Pearls. The Bada Imambara has historical and cultural heritage and was commissioned by the Nawab of Awadh in 1784. Rumi Darwaza The Rumi Darwaza that guards the entrance of old Hussainabad in Lucknow is another monument of magnificence.

Chhota Imambada

Equally good are Chhota Imambada and Shah Najaf Imambara. These buildings were constructed under food for work programs initiated by the then Nawab of Oudh who wanted to help his subjects who were suffering from famine.

How to reach lucknow AIR:

The airport at Lucknow is located at a distance of around 14 kilometers from the city center at a place called Amausi. ROAD: Lucknow can be easily reached from Delhi, Kanpur, Agra, Allahbad and Dehradun. Highways from all these places connect them with Lucknow. The major highways passing through Lucknow are N.H. - 25, N.H. - 28 and N.H. - 56. RAIL: There are two main railway junctions at Lucknow. One is at Lucknow city center itself and the other is at Charbagh, which is located at a distance of around 3 kilometers from the city center. Trains from all major places near and around Lucknow ply daily to this place.

Trekking in Uttar Pradesh The best trekking route

in Uttar Pradesh is found on the Pindari Glacier. This trekking route is combined with Corbett National park and Garhwal-Kumaon. It follows either the Pindhar River from Karnaprayag or you can return in the reverse direction, from Bageshwar. This trek starts at Kapkote where you will need 8-9 days to visit the neighboring Kanfi valley.

National Park in Uttar Pradesh Dudhwa National Park : The Dudhwa National Park is

a national park in the Terai of Uttar Pradesh, It is located on the Indo-Nepal border in the Lakhimpur Kheri District, and has buffer of reserved forest areas on the northern and southern sides. It represents one of the few remaining examples of a highly diverse and productive Terai ecosystem, supporting a large number of endangered species, obligate species of tall wet grasslands and species of restricted distribution.

the Northern India,Awadhiand Mughlaiare the two chief genre. Awadhi cuisine is world famous for dishes such as kebab, biryani, keema and nihari. The chaat in Lucknow and Banarasi Paan is known across India for its flavor and ingredients. Famous sweet dish a mathura that makes everyone's mouth water is the mathura pedas. One must try them if one visits mathura.

Kundan Kaliya Kaliya is a mutton

preparation with gravy along with the compulsory inclusion of turmeric or saffron. It is a preparation commonly served at lunch or dinner. a delicacy designed by the bawarchis and rakabdars to please their Nawabs. Shami Kabab It would be no exaggeration to say that it was the `National' kabab of Awadh. Made from mince meat, the kababs are round patties filled with spicy surprises and the tangy `kairi' or raw green mango. Lucknowi Biryani Though the formal menu of Awadh did not have any place for the Biryani as mentioned earlier, it was and still is popular for the informal meals. Roomali Roti The `Roomali Roti' is suggestive of the scarf or handkerchief like appearance of this bread.
