10:30 Service: Rev.
Steve Burt –“The Truth
about Palm Sunday” -- In
Sunday school many of us
were told that gentle
Jesus (meek and mild Son
of God) rode a gentle
donkey into Jerusalem
along a parade route
jammed with palm-
waving groupies who had
waited hundreds of years
for him. We learned it that
way because we didn't
know the human being,
the history, or the context.
Time to get the real story.

A reminder that we support two
food banks in our area,
Community of Gratitude Emergency Food
Center in Ocklawaha and the Interfaith
food bank in Ocala.
In addition to food, there is a cash
donation box in the back of the chalice
room near the bins used to collect the food.
There is always a need for jelly, rice and
boxed dinners. Other frequently requested
items are toiletries, dish and laundry soap.
Let’s do a special job for them
this month. Cash is especially
appreciated as they can buy food
at an specially low price because
they buy in bulk.
As always, your contributions are greatly
appreciated by these agencies. They are
filling such a great need in our area. (Social
Justice, Diane Carlin)
Project Downtown
With Ocala Islamic
Center
Our friends from the Islamic Center in
Ocala have been running a feeding
program for 6 years, feeding up to 80
homeless people in Ocala. Every
Sunday from 4:00 p.m. through 5:00
p.m. they are handing out water,
sandwiches, fruit and snacks.
In talking with one of the Muslim
women, she suggested a “hygiene
program”. Toothbrushes,
toothpaste, small shampoo, soap,
combs….etc.
This would be an endeavor which would
show the area that not only do we care
about the homeless in the area, but that
we stand side by side (in YELLOW
shirts) with our Muslim sisters and
brothers.
If you have an interest in this program,
please see Diane Carlin or stop by the
Social Justice table which will be set up
on Sunday mornings.

SUNDAY APRIL 2, 1:00 p.m.
Israel’s ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and its repeated invasion of the Gaza strip
have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world --- except in the
United States. This film takes an eye-opening look at the critical exception, zeroing in on pro-Israel
public relations efforts within the United States.
The film provides a sweeping analysis of Israel’s decades-long battle for the hearts, minds, and tax
dollars of the American people in its face of widening international condemnation of its increasing right-
wing policies.

DON’T MISS THIS YEAR’S GA
NEW ORLEANS!
Hi everyone,
Having had the privilege of attending GA for
the first time last year, I would like to invite you
all to seriously consider attending this year.
It is mind-blowing to be in the midst of
thousands of UUs!
It is great to go with a contingent from
UUFMC!
The Ware Lecturer is always outstanding and
this year Bryon Stevenson is the speaker. He
is a greatly admired attorney for his advocacy in
defending people who have been wrongfully
incarcerated and he is also a fabulous speaker.
You will not want to miss this opportunity to
meet and be inspired by him.
This year, GA is as close to Florida as it has
been for several years, and from what I
understand, the next few years will take GA
further away.
I made so many contacts and learned so much
from the lectures and workshops I attended,
that It was worth the somewhat long hours, and
the miles of walking. However, I did not walk …
I rented a scooter which was a blessing for me. I
recommend you do the same if you are
concerned about the physical challenge.
Much more information is in the flyer that is
attached here, but I want to bring to your
attention that RESERVATIONS for rooms
opened on March 1st! So, make up your mind as
soon as possible and make your room
reservation ASAP as well as your reservations
at GA to have the experience of a lifetime!
Looking forward to an exciting time with you at
GA!
Talk to me if you would like to know more.

Eating for Life Event:
Our vegan cooking demonstration is scheduled
for next Tuesday, April 4 at 5:00 pm. Please let
me know by email if you plan to be there. (If
you already sign-up, there is no need to tell me
again.)
Our chef, Tara Jolly, will demonstrate how to
make breakfast foods including tofu scramble,
potatoes, and easy biscuits with a gluten free
option. Both Tara and her partner, Justice, are
experienced vegan chefs. They’ll answer your
questions and offer cooking tips and
suggestions.
If you have a favorite breakfast recipe (or any
recipe for that matter) to share with others,
please bring it and we’ll have a recipe exchange.
I will let you know by Sunday how many copies
to bring.
Feel free to invite your friends, and remember,
participants don’t have to be vegan to attend.
We simply ask that everyone come with an
open, inquiring mind about alternative ways to
eat and live with kindness.
Be well and always loved, Margaret

I am the granddaughter of Russian immigrants
fleeing religious persecution. Our families settled in
Brooklyn and the Bronx, working hard to give their
families the things that all people cherish; food on
the table, a roof over their heads, warmth, good
health, love and a good education.
I married at 18, had a daughter and a son: a
perfect family. But, I realized that I needed
something more. I went to college, developed my
love of art and a thirst for knowledge of history and
religion. I started to travel. I got divorced.
I opened my own business as an interior designer,
window display artist and floral designer. When
money got tight, I sold cars.
Retirement brought me to The Villages where I
became involved with politics: as President of the
Democratic Club, State Committeewoman for the
Democratic Executive Committee and office
manager for the Obama Headquarters. Next, I
started and chaired the Environmental Club. In
eight years, we produced three large
Environmental Expos and hosted many noted
speakers and authors. Our greatest achievement
was bringing recycling to the Villages!
I joined the UU a few years ago and have been
delighted to have found like-minded enthusiastic
people to work with. I love it here!
