• As international shipping traffic expands, site-directed organisms are regularly taken in by ballast water and then introduced into different ecosystems. These organisms can be destroyed by on-board UV disinfection.

For example, the chloramine loading of public swimming baths can be significantly reduced or high purity water can be produced for processes in the semiconductor industry and the optical industry.

A hygienic and safe supply of drinking water for the population is a key factor in the preservation of health and the prevention of epidemics. Drinking water can be disinfected and treated with UV light without adding chemicals. Neither taste nor smell or PH value of the water are affected. The special added benefit: pathogens cannot become resistant to UV light.

ADVANTAGES OF UV WATER TREATMENT

Advantages of UV water treatment : • No influence on taste and smell • No addition of chemicals • It is environmentally safe • Short irradiation time • Effective against chlorine-resistant bugs

/pathogens like Cryptosporidium, Giardia • Easy handling • Low-maintenance procedure • Very low operating costs

DISADVANTAGES OF CHLORINATION IN WATER TREATMENT

The disadvantages of water chlorination: • Causes Smell and Bad Taste • Trihalomethanes ( carsinogen ) occur when react with

humic acid in water • Halo acetic acid ( carsinogen ) occur when react with

urine in swimming pool • Toxic residual even low concentration • Highly corrosive • Not effective for some bacteria ( cryptosporodia,

gyardia, legionella)

UV STERILIZER WORKING PRINCIPLE

• Water enters the stainless steel chamber where it is exposed to UVC

light.

• The UVC light penetrates the cell walls of bacteria, viruses and other

microorganisms, impacts directly on their DNA.

• This process kills cells so they are no longer able to replicate.

UV OPERATING CONDITION IN CLEAN WATER TREATMENT

• Water temperature: 5-40℃, ambient temperature: -

5~40℃, ambient humidity ≤93% (25℃)

• Water Quality

• Iron < 0.3 ppm (0.3 mg/L)

• Hardness* < 7 gpg (120 mg/L)

• Turbidity < 1 NTU

• Manganese < 0.05 ppm (0.05 mg/L)

• Tannins < 0.1 ppm (0.1 mg/L)

• UV Transmittance > 75%

* Where total hardness is less than 7 gpg, the UV unit

should operate efficiently provided the quartz sleeve

and/or sensor probe is cleaned periodically. If total

hardness is over 7 gpg, the water should be softened.

• UV Transmittance ≥75%

• Ideally, the disinfection system should be the last

treatment before water reaches the faucet.
