Planning a Training @ CDCI: The Logistics BEFORE Would you like help with organizing the training? For project-sponsored training, inquire to project coordinator/director for availability of support from the project’s staff. For CDCI-sponsored training, limited support may be available on a case-by-case basis. Inquire to the Interdisciplinary Training Coordinator. The UVM Conference Events and Services is available to help you plan in-person training for a fee (http://www.uvm.edu/conferences/). Who is providing the training? For CDCI project and CDCI sponsored trainings insure that the direct supervisor is aware of the training planned. For ‘contracted’ training to a specific organization or agency, follow the procedure in the Consultation Agreement document. For registrants’ paid training, follow the procedure in the Consultation Agreement document. How much should you charge for the training? Would you like help with organizing the training? For project-sponsored training, inquire to project coordinator/director for availability of

support from the project’s staff. For CDCI-sponsored training, limited support may be available on a case-by-case

The UVM Conference Events and Services can schedule a location for a fee (http://www.uvm.edu/conferences/) – inform the CDCI business office early in the planning process.

Training Survey Template: the CDCI Training Template is available for your use as a PDF (Appendix E), on the CDCI Share Drive under Resources and NIRS, or electronically in LimeSurvey

Step-by-step instructions on using the electronic LimeSurvey version of the template is in Appendix F

Be sure to clearly outline all objectives of the training to participants. This will be important later when the participants are filling out the Training Survey for accurate data collection

APPENDIX C - STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE CDCI REGISTRATION TEMPLATE  

Download  the  CDCI  Registration  Template  to  your  computer  from:

Go  to:  https://survey.uvm.edu/admin  

Enter  your  UVM  ID  and  password  

Click  on  Create/Import  Survey  (blue  arrow)  

 

Click  on  Import

APPENDIX F - STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE CDCI TRAINING SURVEY TEMPLATE Go  to:  https://survey.uvm.edu/admin/  

Enter  your  UVM  ID  and  password  

Click  on  Create/Import  Survey  (black   arrow)  

 

Click  on  Import  

  Locate  the  CDCI  Share  Drive  files  CDCI_TrainingSurveyTemplate.lss:  

cdci>>Resources>>NIRS>>LimeSurvey>>CDCI_TrainingSurveyTemplate.lss  and  download  it  to  your  desktop.  

Click  “Browse”  and  locate  and  click  the  CDCI_TrainingSurveyTemplate.lss  file  on  your  desktop.    

Click  “Import  survey”  

Select  the  survey  from  the  ‘Surveys’  drop  down  menu:  

  Click  on  the  icon  for  ‘Survey  Properties’  and  then  ‘Edit  Text  Elements’  

  You  must  change  the  Survey  title  so  that  it  will  be  easy  to  distinguish  within  the  ‘Surveys’  drop  down  

menu  from  future  training  surveys.  

Under  ‘Welcome  Message’  enter  the  training  topic,  date  and  presenter.  You  can  include  any  other  message  you  want  to  share  with  participants.  Than  click  ‘Save’  at  the  bottom  of  the  screen.

Under  ‘Notification  &  data  management’  put  your  email  address  under  ‘Send  basic  admin  notification  email  to.’  You  will  now  receive  an  email  whenever  a  training  participant  responds  to  your  survey.  

You  will  also  need  to  add  ‘cdcilime’  as  a  user  to  your  surveys.    To  do  this  click  on  the  ‘Survey  Properties’  icon  again.    Now  click  ‘Survey  Permissions’  

o Under  ‘User:’  choose  [email protected]  from  the  drop  down  menu  and  click  ‘add  user’  

To  activate  the  survey  so  that  training  participants  can  fill  it  out,  click  here:  

 o You  will  be  provided  with  a  link  that  you  can  then  email  to  training  participants  

Once  everyone  has  responded  to  the  survey  you  can  access  the  data  by  clicking  the  ‘Respones’  icon  and  ‘Responses  &  statistics’:  

  You  can  then  export  this  data  to  a  .csv  file  for  easy  entering  into  NIRS  by  clicking  on  the  ‘Export  

results  to  a  R  data  file’  icon:    

   

The  response  data  you  will  need  to  enter  into  NIRS  as  part  of  your  Training  Activity  comes  from  the  following  questions:
