Mark Zanna – 2011 Killam Prize•$100,000 annual award given by the Canada Council for the Arts•Given for career achievements in health sciences, engineering, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences•Dr. Zanna is the second UW professor in a row to be awarded the prize – computer science professor Ming Li won in 2010•He is one of the world’s most-cited social psychologists

•Ontario added 55,000 new jobs in April, mostly part-time positions (46,000)•Employment rate for youths aged 15-24 holding steady•Unemployment rate is 7.6 per cent

Canada, Germany, France: New destinations for Indian students

•The number of Indian students studying in Canada jumped 280 per cent from 2008 to 2010•France and Singapore have reported enrolment increases of 20 per cent a year since 2009•There were 15 per cent more Indian students studying in Germany in 2010-2011 than in 2009-2010

•The number of Indian students in Australia dropped 77 per cent in 2010 from 2009•The United Kingdom had 57,000 Indian students studying in 2009 – in 2010 that number had fallen to 41,350•The number of Indian students studying in the United States dropped by 32 per cent from 2009 to 2010

•Canada issued 3,152 student visas to Indian students in 2008 – 12,000 in 2010•Australia issued 47,638 student visas to Indian students in 2008 – 12,483 in 2010
