Never Again

‘I am a survivor of a concentration camp. My eyes saw what no man should witness. Gas chambers built by learned engineers. Children poisoned by educated physicians. Infants killed by trained nurses. Women and babies shot and burned by high school and college graduates. So, I am suspicious of education. My request is: help your students become more human. Your efforts must never produce learned monsters, skilled psychopaths, educated Eichmanns. Reading, writing, Arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our children more humane’.

Global Citizenship: beyond the core

• we will develop for session 2014-15 (piloted in trimester 2, 2014) an optional module on global citizenship.

• we will develop a UWS certificate comprising of 3 20-credit level 7 modules to be undertaken voluntarily by students over the course of their studies at UWS. One possibility would be the new module, the one piloted by

HNM/HEA and a specific SAUWS organized one.

These will be facilitated by an SFC funded

Secondment.

‘Adding wings to caterpillars does not createbutterflies - it creates awkward anddisfunctional caterpillars. Butterflies arecreated through transformation’
