Azalea String Quartet Performing at ABAC Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The First Tuesday Con-
cert at ABAC will feature “A
Night of Chamber Music”
with the Azalea String
Quartet on Tuesday at 7
p.m. in the Chapel of All
Faiths on the ABAC cam-
pus. There is no cost to
attend this event.
The quartet is composed
of Nina Lutz and Brent Wil-
liams on the violin, Laura
Burns on the viola, and Ste-
ven Taylor on the cello.
Each member of the quartet
teaches their respective
instruments at Valdosta
State University in the De-
partment of Music. They
are also principal players
of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra.
The quartet will perform “Quartet No.
3, Opus 73” by Dimitri Shostakovich and
“Quartet in A minor, Opus 13” by Felix
Mendelssohn.
The ABAC First Tuesday Concert Se-
ries takes place on five selected first
Tuesdays during the year. Dr.
Susan Roe, associate professor
of voice at ABAC, directs the
series. All First Tuesday con-
certs are presented to the com-
munity as a gift from the college
through the School of Liberal
Arts and the Georgia Council for
the Arts. Roe said that persons
who want to support the First
Tuesday concerts can make
contributions to the ABAC Foun-
dation and designate them for
the First Tuesday Concert Se-
ries.
Other First Tuesday events will
be held on March 6 with "A
Night of Classical Guitar”, fea-
turing Matt Cochran and April 3
with "A Night of Broadway Mu-
sic" featuring ABAC faculty, students,
and voice majors.

The ABAC Phi Theta Kappa honors society increased their membership from 38 to 60 members in less than a year. PTK is an inter-national academic honors society that invites students who have earned a cumulative aca-demic grade point average of 3.5 or higher after completing 15 semester hours of aca-demic courses to join the local honor society. Science Fair February 17 at ABAC
The School of Science and Mathemat-
ics at ABAC will host the Regional Sci-
ence and Engineering Fair on Feb. 17 in
Thrash Gym.
Students in grades 6-12 who have
participated in a local science fair in
their county or school and have been
chosen to participate at the
regional level will be in-
volved. Projects will be
entered in one of 16 differ-
ent classifications such as
behavioral and social sci-
ences, physics and astrono-
my, animal sciences, plant sciences,
and chemistry.
Displays will be available for viewing
by the public from 3 – 4 p.m. The
awards ceremony will be held at 3:30
p.m. in Howard Auditorium. Awards
will be given to the top two finishers in
both the junior and senior
divisions.

Mock Named ABAC
Public Relations Director Ashley Mock has been named the
Director of Public Relations at ABAC by
President David Bridges.
Bridges made the ap-
pointment on February
1. Mock, who married
C.J. Mock of Valdosta
in November, was
made Interim Director
of Public Relations in
June 2011 with the re-
tirement of Mike
Chason.
“Ashley has been with
us for five years now,
and she has handled her duties and
responsibilities very well,” Bridges
said. “I am confident that she will con-
tinue to do a great job moving the
college forward.”
Mock joined ABAC on June 19, 2007
with a bachelor of fine arts in communi-
cation degree with an emphasis in pub-
lic relations from Valdosta State Univer-
sity. She received her master of arts in
communication degree from VSU in July
2011.
“I fell in love with ABAC the first day
on the job,” Mock said. “I look forward
to the opportunity to continue to spread
the word about ABAC.”
Fillies Start Season Off Strong
The ABAC Fillies softball team had a four
game sweep this weekend at the Darton
Tournament. They beat Andrew today 6-5
and Wallace College 8-5 on Saturday fol-
lowing two wins on Friday. Their record is
now 5-3. Come out and support the Fillies
at their double-header home game Feb. 16
at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Run for the Nurses Join the School of Nursing and Health Sciences on
Feb. 25 for a 1 mile fun walk/run, 5K run, and 10K run event to assist in the future education
of nurses through scholarships at ABAC. The 5K race will benefit the Lisa Purvis Allison Spirit of Nursing Scholarship Fund. Visit

“Tea For Three” Exhibit Open at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village The “Tea For Three” exhibit will remain open until March 21. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Fulbright Scholar Visits ABAC
Dr. Willibroad Dze-Ngwa (center) got an

zsanna Boegre (right), ABAC Fulbright
Scholar showed the visiting Dze-Ngwa
around campus. Dze-Ngwa spoke on the
educational, economic, and political sys-
tems of his home country, Cameroon to
interested faculty and students.
