Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) through Nairobi Industrial

and Technology Park, has established TAIFA electronics project and launched its first product,

TAIFA laptop. The project is inviting applications from qualified persons to fill the following

positions:

Positions:

1. Computer Assembly Technicians (14 positions) Duties and Responsibilities:

Reads, understands/interprets, and adheres to all technical diagram requirements;

Files/buffs to fit assemblies;

Measures parts to determine specified tolerance;

Drills, taps, reams, countersinks, and spot faces bolt holes in parts;

Positions and aligns parts/subassemblies;

Bolts, screws, and rivets parts together;

Crimps and solders connections on a variety of electrical connectors;

Cleans and lubricates parts and assemblies per specifications;

Marks/labels identifying information on parts;

Builds wire harness assemblies;

Uses powered and non-powered tools including soldering and sanding tools;

Gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in a fast paced environment producing

zero defects.

Qualifications-

i. Certificate or diploma in Information Technology or electrical engineering

2. Quality Control/ Quality Assurance Technicians(4 positions) Duties and Responsibilities

Provides information and data reflecting the status of the plant quality system;

Assists with corrective action, process improvement activities and assists in re-training;

Monitors the quality and integrity of information required;

Issues release of processed materials;

Assists in all activities relevant for customer and regulatory audits;

Assists with the monthly review of total quality management report;

Assists with audits to ensure compliance and to provide basis for continuous improvement;

Executes equivalency and retrospective re-validation studies/reports;

Assists with validations and calibrations;

Maintains quality related training programs;

Maintains customer master files.

Qualifications

i. Certificate or diploma in IT or Electrical Engineering

ii. Experience in troubleshooting and repairing laptops, mobile phones and related

ICT devices.

3. Sales Lead (2 positions) Duties and Responsibilities

Conducting and coordinating with dealers and distributors and maintaining sales targets and

goals;

Tracking the growth and the progress of the leads who are assigned sales targets;

Helping in identifying and locating areas of sales opportunities in the market;

Providing training to the sales force personnel;

Maintaining and updating various information on the product and customer feedback and send

it to the distributor;

Periodical review and performance appraisal of the sales force team;

Building contacts with distributors and dealers;

Coordinating with other marketing departments on product development and market or business

development;

Locating the demand for new product and services offered by the company in the market;

Following up progress of the leads with their sales targets;

Seeking out new promotional opportunities for company products;

Generating intelligence of company competitors;

Managing sales force and the distribution chain;

Conducting trade fairs, corporate events and conferences;

Handling the queries and clearing the doubts of the clients and customers in a precise and

concise manner.

4. Sales Executives(2 position) Duties and responsibilities

Listening to customer requirements and presenting appropriately to make a sale;

Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone

calls and emails;

Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business;

Responding to incoming email and phone enquiries;

Acting as a contact between a company and its existing and potential markets;

Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales in consulting with Sales lead and

Business Development Manager;

Gathering market and customer information;

Representing their company at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations;

Negotiating on price, costs, delivery and specifications with buyers and managers;

Challenging any objections with a view to getting the customer to buy;

Advising on forthcoming product developments and discussing special promotions;

Creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process which is largely

dictated by the prospective customer;

Liaising with suppliers to check the progress of existing orders;

5. Customer Representative – Warranty Center (1 position) Duties and Responsibilities

Logging in and logging out calls

Assess and record physical status of machines and accessories when receiving from clients

Communicating with customers i.e giving them feedback on the status of their machines

Keeping up-to-date records of the calls (maintaining the job card booklets)

Preparing updated reports on the calls for the technical supervisor

Providing first-line support to customers before escalating to the next support level

Check if product is within or out of warranty

Advice clients on cost implication of service, if any

Reconcile service billings

Qualifications

Diploma in IT or Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Well groomed

2 years experience working in a warranty center

6. Accountant(1 position) Duties and responsibilities

Generation, analysis, reviewing and communication of financial data that reflects actual finance

performance against the budget.

Preparation of quarterly and annual entries and filings.

Preparation of accounting records, research of transactions and reports.

Perform regular and recurring accounting functions that require professional competence.

Document accounting procedures and transactions that will later be used for financial

management procedures and auditing.

Prepare tax schedules and apply basic knowledge of tax rules to assist in tax reports and returns.

Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company.

Research and collect data to be used in transactions.

Take part in the annual operating budgeting process, analysis and review of annual operating

budget proposals.

7. Head of Supply Chain (1 position) Duties and Responsibilities

Direct the activities of all functions involved in the purchasing, planning, warehousing and

control of materials from the receipt of forecasting replenishment needs to the delivery of the

finished product into finished goods inventory and delivery of products to customer(s).

Manage inventory and establishes controls to ensure the company is operating at the highest

level of performance based on key performance metrics and minimized supply chain risk.

Analyses and give feedback on the procurement, logistics and store management reports

Prepare periodic reports on procurement, logistics and stores management to the management

Recommend on the efficient way to run the supply chain in the organization

Develop strategies, policies, procedures, and overall team to optimize value of the entire

function in creating a world class materials management group.

Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to

procurement, logistics and stores management.

Lead and coach others in maintaining excellence on quality control, and safety.

Develop and continuously improve supplier programs.

Participate in existing and new product planning processes to assure timely acquisition of

8. HR Assistatnt (1 position) Duties and Responsibilities

Defining the learning strategy and recruitment, setting high standard principles and providing

likely solutions.

Providing pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice on grievance, attendance, disciplinary,

and performance issues.

Raising proactive issues, identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse HR issues, and

recommending appropriate action plans.

Compiling and managing case management documentation, accompany and support.

Briefing new managers on the policies and procedures of an organization in conjunction with

development and learning team, and providing coaching for new managers on difficult and

complex issues.

Liaising with management on salary levels for existing and prospective staff consistent with

organization market conditions and policies.

Ensuring the maintenance of all payroll data.

Reviewing and revising HR policies in compliance with changing or new legislation.

9. Procurement Assistant(1 positions) Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate the timely preparation and implementation of procurement plans and procurement

activities arising from the Company’s operations;

Proper management of all procurement and disposal records plus activities carried out by the

Company;

Preparation of the development of manuals and standard documents relating to procurement

and disposal;

Advertise and analyze tenders for goods and services according to the Public Procurement

Regulations and approved specifications and requirements;

Provide technical advice and secretarial services to the Tender Committee;

Coordinate suppliers’ pre-qualification and appraisals;

Keeping abreast with market trading trends by carrying out market surveys;

Preparation of contract documents in line with award decisions;

Ensuring efficiency of inventory management;

Establishing and maintaining positive relations with suppliers and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Diploma in Supply Chain Management or purchase and supply or related qualification from

reputable institution.

Be conversant with the current public procurement Act.

Be computer literate

2 years’ experience in related assignment.

10. Logistics Assistants(1 position)

Duties and responsibilities

Receive shipments and ensure both quality and quantity

Trace, track and expedite purchase processes

Create and maintain contact with vendors and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods

Interact with third party logistics service providers

Audit freight cost and documentation

Ensure accuracy of all inventories

Maintain communication with warehouse staff to ensure proper working order

Review bills, invoices and purchase orders

Ensure all payments are processed in time

Assist customers with inquiries

Create packing lists and update shipment information in database

Organize files both manually and electronically

Monitor and facilitate repair orders

Coordinate deliveries for repaired or returned items

Ensure that the warehouse has sufficient space for incoming deliveries

Ensure that all items are properly numbered and tagged

11. Store Asssistant( 1 position) Duties and responsibilities

Ensures daily activities at the store.

Maintains the store and displays it clean all times.

Makes inventory and store goods.

Checks all products to see if they are damaged.

General office duties such as answer telephone, take orders, send emails, and ensure

maintenance at working place.

Assists in shipment preparation.

Manages schedules for all the store's activities

Assists when filling in forms, returns, and control documents according to agreed control

procedures.

Reports on non-conforming products to the head of supply chain.

Informs about issues affecting health and safety and due diligence policies eg OSHA

Assists with feedback on products.

Conducts periodic stock takes and reports any discrepancies to the head of supplies.

Qualifications

Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management and any other related qualification

from a reputable institution.

ICT literacy.

12. IT Technician( 1 position) Duties and responsibilities

Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system(server administration)

Be familiar with all hardware and software

Provide orientation to new users of existing technology

Train staff about potential uses of existing technology

Provide individual training and support on request

Provide recommendations about accessing information and support

Troubleshoot all technology issues

Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance

Wide experience on deployment of routers, switches, Vlans and firewalls;

Working knowledge of windows and Linux operating systems and Servers;

At least one of the following certifications will be an added advantage MCSE, CCNA, ITIL,

A+, N+;

Proficiency in a variety of computer hardware and software systems, including setup,

functionality and support;

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects;

Excellent communication skills;

Well-developed presentation and negotiation skills; and

Answer phones and transfer to the appropriate staff member;

Take and distribute accurate messages;

Greet public and clients and direct them to the correct staff member;

Coordinate messenger and courier service;

Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail;

Monitor incoming emails and answer or forward as required;

Prepare outgoing mail for distribution;

Fax, scan and print/copy documents;

Maintain office filing and storage systems;

Update and maintain databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information;

15. Office Clerk(1) Duties and responsibilities

Determine destinations by referring to addresses on packages and documents

Ensure that packages or messages are delivered in a time efficient manner

Handle packages and documents with care especially ones that are marked “fragile”

Ensure that packages are ready for delivery by packing them in a safe manner

Reconcile packages at recipient’s location

Maintain communication with destination and point of departure through radio or cell phone

Take recipient’s signature of the receipt and compare with original signature on identification

card

Understand privacy rules and not tamper with package or document

Maintain records of daily visits in the log book

Sort deliverable items in accordance to delivery route in order to ensure maximum efficiency

Confirm deliveries by checking into the office after each delivery

Sort incoming mail and parcels and deliver to appropriate recipients within the office

Collect and seal outgoing mail and ensure that proper stamps are used

Plan efficient routes prior to setting out on a delivery mission

Take COD (cash on delivery) where appropriate and deposit cash into bank as instructed prior

to the delivery

Qualifications

Atleast form four certificate.

Ensure the offices, production line, warranty center, washrooms, cafeteria and store are

maintained clean at all times

Qualifications

KCSE Certificate or any other relevant certificate

17. Driver(2) Duties and Responsibilities

Driving company vehicle

Vehicle cleaning and maintenance

Reporting on vehicle maintenance issues to HR Assistant

Maintaining vehicle work schedule as allocated to him/her

Qualifications

Posses a valid BCE driving licence with training from a reputable driving school

Posses basic vehicle maintenance skills

Posses valid certificate of good conduct

Good communication skills

Well groomed

High integrity and discipline

Keen on time

18. Security Detail (2) Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure security of stations assigned

Scanning of staff leaving the premises

Inspecting and signing out products leaving the premises

Maintain a log of people entering and leaving the premises

Ensure security cameras are in proper conditions and working correctly

Qualifications

KCSE Certificate

MUST be trained by a reputable security firm preferably NYS

2 Years experience in a related assignment

MUST have a valid certificate of good conduct

High integrity, honesty and discipline
