1. ARTISAN ELECTRICIAN Requirements and Experience (GRADE 19) R13 324 – R16 053 – R18 782

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all electrical plant and equipment at wastewater works to achieve the highest plant and equipment availability with full regard for the safety of employees. Perform standby or after hours duties as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out implemented standards and policies under the direction of the Operational and Electrical Managers. Liaise with process and mechanical staff to ensure maximum plant availability to ensure compliance with wastewater effluent quality permit as well as raw sewage spills target. Ensure and promote workplace safety in terms of OHASA, SANS and any other applicable codes of practice. Assist with the effective and productive planning of the section. Solve electrical problems on the works by liaising with the Electrical and Operational manager when the need arises. Carry out the electrical repairs and maintenance of all electrical equipment including motors and associated control equipment including actuators and MV equipment situated at the wastewater treatment works. Install and maintain lighting and ancillaries at all relevant premises at the works including high masts and street lighting. Perform switch operations in accordance with the JW switching regulations.

N2 Electrical plus Trade test ideally Wiremen’s Licence.

2 years experience on PLC’s/VSD’s, Motors and Soft starters, Actuators and ultrasonic level controllers essential.

Transformer and Switchgear maintenance advantageous.

Code 08 ideally Code 10 driver’s licence.

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:

Purpose: To effectively plan, co-ordinate, control and manage the activities of the Meter Reading Contractors and ensure that all readings provided by the Meter Reading Contractors are of highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

Attend to all meter investigations as allocated by the team leader. Ensure high level of intergrity on all work and accurately utilise and capture information on Hansen and Radex system. 4. DATA CONTROLLER Requirements and Experience (GRADE 17)R10 688 – R12 551 – R14 434

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:

Purpose: Checking accuracy and submission of documented data. Capturing of data from time-sheets, costings documentation, asset costings, job cards and other JW management documentation. Production of computer generated reports.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately capture the first phase of the core data to ensure a sound basis for correctness of next phases. Understand the structure of JW’s data system and monitor the correctness and integrity of data captured by the depots. Rectify data errors on the system to enable depots to complete transactions and to improve data quality. Solve data-related problems of depot staff. Highlight data-related problems that cannot be solved to IMIS Administrator. Highlight captured errors to depot staff and assists them to rectify it. Assist the IMIS Administrator as and when required.

Grade 10 with 3 years experience in capturing data onto a computerised system orGrade 12 with 1 year experience in capturing data onto a computerised system.

Computer literacy to keyboard accuracy and approximately spreadsheet level is required.

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:

Purpose: Assist Senior Operator with the daily operation of a section of the treatment works so that all wastewater and associated are treated and disposed of in compliance with permit conditions (Water Act) and with full regard for the safety of employees on a shift basis.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Senior Operator with the operation of a section of the Works site (weekend duty essential). Responsible for the collection of various samples daily. Responsible for ensuring that the correct chemical dosing rates are used and to prevent wastage of chemicals.

Grade 10 or NQF level 2, ideal Grade12.

2 years relevant experience. Must be registered or eligible to

register as class 1 or 2 operations with DWAF.

Driver’s licence will be advantageous.

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the operation of compust5 turners and front end loaders for the treatment and disposal of sludge and with full regard for the safety of employees.

Key Responsibilities

Operate turner such as that all composting material is aerating as required. Operate a front end loader such that new compost heaps are constructed ready for turning and aerating. Assess when the composted heaps required moisture to be added. Ensure that all staff under their control are equipped with protective clothing and work safe conditions using safe methods. Ensure all work is being carried out within statutory safety conditions as laid down in OHASA. Report accidents and any damages caused to vehicles promptly.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation of Johannesburg Water’s policy of the management of fixed assets and insures policy for contract works and public liability insurance. Purpose: Responsible for all welding related functions, associated plant/equipment, labour and materials. Achieve the highest plant and equipment availability with full regard for the safety of employees.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Workshop Foreman in providing direct supervision into all aspects of operating the Welding Workshop as well as site work. Carry out routine repairs and maintenance to all designated EM installations and network facilities, sites and workshops according to OHASA and SABS codes of practice. When required manufacture using welding equipment any items that may be required for installations, facilities and workshops. Ensure that all welding machinery and related equipment and tools are kept in safe working order. Check safety equipment on a daily basis and report any defects to Workshop Foreman. Make effective use of the vehicle, plant and equipment under his/her control. Ensure that all operations are executed in such a manner that the quality of the environment is maintained as high a level as possible and comply with all relevant regulations.

Minimum N2 Mechanical plus Trade test ideally N3 Mechanical plus Trade test.

2 years experience as a Welder Code 10 driver’s licence plus PDP.

Purpose: To provide a cost effective microbiological and scientific advisory service to all Johannesburg Water departments and approved outside organisations and to manage the development of relevant microbiological methodology as new analyses are required.

Key Responsibilities Plan activities in the laboratory including the development of analytical methods and the procurement of equipment to enhance productivity and to improve the quality of results. Plan CAPEX budget annually and assist in the preparation of the annual budget. Staff management and development. Ensure that all processed data is readily accessible when required. Manage regular housekeeping of laboratories. Coordinate and manage the daily laboratory activities. Investigate new instrumentation techniques and/pr instruments and also make recommendations on chemicals and/or instruments. Liaise with external bodies such as the SABS, CSIR and tertiary institutions on analytical techniques and methodologies and inter-laboratory calibration exercise. Purpose: Establish and maintain Johannesburg Water’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System as well as offer support role in terms of Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) and Disaster Management in Johannesburg Water business units in order to promote and ensure the health and well-being of all employees and to ensure legal compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish OHS systems for business units to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Carry out all administrative requirements of the relevant acts.
