EUCHARISTIC ADORATION WITH CONFESSIONS

Join us for Adoration and Confessions

every Wednesday 6:00-7:00pm.

Did you know that 21 parishioners give online? That means they are able to make their regular contributions even when they are on vacation or away from the parish for other reasons. Also, there are no checks to write or envelopes to remember! Visit the parish website at www.regischurch.org and click on the Online Giving link to enroll. Through May 31st we have received $14,430 in regular envelope contributions; help us increase that amount by signing up today!

ST. REGIS STEWARDSHIP CORNER In today’s Gospel from St Luke, Jesus says “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” In today’s society, we are not very good about denying ourselves. In our consumer driven world, we are con-stantly bombarded with ads for stuff we think we need. Jesus is trying to tell us to set aside our own personal de-sire for “stuff” and to follow him. Our time, talent and treasures are all blessings from God. In recent weeks there were references in this column about the history of tithing in the Old and New Testa-ments. God has entrusted into our care unique gifts in-cluding talents, skills and treasures. Tithing is considered returning 10% of those gifts that ultimately belong 100% to God anyway. The act of giving a portion back is an act of worship and trust in our loving God who still wants us to keep 90% of his blessings. Lord, help us to learn to deny are own wants a little more so that we can more fully following your example of giv-ing and service to others.

HELP WANTED A homebound parishioner is in need of a part-time handy man. If you are interested in the position call Pat Beard at 816-394-9596.

JUNE WORKS OF MERCY Our June Work of Mercy is “Visit the Sick and Impris-oned”. Listed below are just a few possibilities for works of mercy that you might consider.

• Volunteer to drive patients to doctor appointments (ask Little Sisters about opportunities)

• Offer assistance to full-time caregivers who are car-ing for family members

• Send a card or flowers or make a phone call to a sick friend or family member.

• Prepare and deliver meals to the sick and home-

bound or to their families

• Provide a bible to a pr isoner (watch the bulletin for an upcoming opportunity)

• Support job training and education for the incar -cerated; See Catholic Charities “Turnaround and Re-entry Program”

• Pray for the families of inmates

• Read the book, “You Did It To Me” by Fr Michael Gaitley

THE YEAR OF MERCY - JUNE COMFORT THE IMPRISONED In June, Social Services Ministry Council will be accept-ing donations to purchase bibles to be taken to prisoners in the Kansas City area. We are suggesting a donation of $10.00 and we will let the purchaser write a note in the bible that will be given out by the volunteers who visit the jail once a month. After the Masses in June, Social Services will have a table in the gathering space for the collection of donations (Any amount will help). Thank you for helping this ministry in the Year of Mercy.
