Reading Workshop● The goal is to teach students strategies for
reading, understanding, and solving problems.● Allows teachers to differentiate and meet the
needs of all students.● Fosters a love of reading, writing, and math.● Teachers model strategies, students practice
strategies with guidance, and then independently.
Component - Read AloudThe teacher reads a selection aloud to students to model fluency, vocabulary and comprehension strategies.
Component - Guided ReadingThe teacher introduces a text to students that is just a little harder than they can read on their own.
Writing WorkshopStudents have a large amount of choice in their topic and style of writing. The teacher acts as a mentor, modeling writing techniques and conferring with students as they move through the writing process. Direct writing instruction takes place in the form of a mini-lesson at the beginning of each workshop and is followed by active writing time. Each workshop ends with a sharing of student work.

News from Nurse Lynn● Nurse Lynn will communicate with families by phone and/or email
about required medical information that is still needed for September. Please review the forms received at kindergarten screening
● Vaccines must be complete to attend school in September, if you are
on a catch up schedule, you must provide appointment cards for your subsequent doses and follow the state mandated catch up schedule to attend.
● Nurse Lynn will be periodically checkingemail and coming into the office occasionally over the summer please feel free to send
