Historical Note

After several decades of being exclusively an undergraduate institution, Berklee College of Music startedits accredited masters' program in the fall of 2012. It was during this time that the school opened its firstinternational campus in Valencia, Spain. This city was chosen because of its rich musical history andculture where students not only learn about the local music but also about the other Mediterranean musiccultures such as Italian, Northern African and Middle Eastern. The city also boasts the iconic opera housePalau de les Reina Sofía, which provides ample performance opportunities. Much like its Boston campus,the Spanish campus attracts aspiring musicians from all over the world.

The Berklee Valencia campus currently provides English language courses in the following masters’programs:

• Music in Contemporary Performance – teaches students about performing styles, studio work and theentrepreneurial skills that come with designing a performance project

• Music in Arts in Global Entertainment and Music Business – teaches artistic management,entrepreneurial skills and networking while working in the music industry

• Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games – teaches how to compose music for the three mentionedmediums for listening in movie theaters, on televisions, laptops, stereos and multi-use portable devices.

• Music Technology Innovation – teaches aspiring musicians about today’s cutting-edge technology inrecording, video production and sound design for studios and performance venues. This campus startedwith the previous three programs and this program was added in 2013.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of the digital culminating experience (CE) projects that have been completedby students in all four masters’ programs of the Valencia, Spain campus. This includes the programsof Contemporary Performance, Arts in Global Entertainment in Music Business, Scoring for Film,Television and Video Games and Music Technology Innovation. The projects are made up of thefollowing types of files:

• Music files: MP3 and Wave

• PDFs

• PowerPoints

• Images: JPG format

• Word Documents: Word, Rich Text and Plain Text

• Videos: QuickTime Movie, BDM, MTS and Clip Information format

The PowerPoints, videos, images and music files have been used for presentations. The word documentswere mostly hand-in assignments. Some PDFs are either slideshows or hand-in assignments.

Arrangement Note

These files have been arranged in folders according to the masters’ programs. ContemporaryPerformance, Music Business and Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games are further divided bythe individual graduate student who created the files.
