SES Vallbona

Our school:

Location● SES Vallbona is located in Vallbona d’Anoia, a small village. It is considered a

rural area.

● The number of inhabitans in Vallbona is 1424.

HistoryOur school is 9 years old.

It is a secondary school: from 7th to 10th grade. (ESO)

School buildings or venuesOur school consists of 7 pre-manufactured modules.

We have some specific classrooms like the laboratory and the technology workshop.

Also, we take our gym classes in the town’s sports center and its field.

We have fences around the school which keep it closed from the start to the end of the

classes.

We have one break from 11 o’clock to 11:30.

StudentsThere are 191 students in our school.

103 of them are male students.

88 of them are female students.

Our students are from 12 to 16 years old (with some exceptions of 17 years old

students).

The students are from Vallbona d’Anoia, la Pobla de Claramunt, Can Ros, Cabrera,

Sant Joan de Mediona , Sant Elias, Sant Pere Sacarrera, and La Font del Bosc and they

get to the school walking or by bus every day.

TeachersThere are 24 teachers in our school.

We usually have 1 teacher per class.

There are usually 22 students per class, except for when we do split groups.

The rapport we use to speak with our teachers is standard (not formal language)

We call our teachers by their name.

TIMETABLE FRAMEWORKWe go to school from 8 until 14:30 and each lesson lasts for 60 minutes.

At 11 we have a break which length is 30 minutes.

Everyday we go to 6 different lessons subjects.

BREAKSDuring the break you can play football, voleyball or basketball the place where we play

it isn’t very big but that’s okay to play in the break.

We have a compulsory subjects like catalan, spanish or maths. But we also have

optional subjects like French, religion and another ones.

In each class are around 26 students and there are a mixed-ability lesson.

COMPULSORY AND OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

EXAMSWe normally must to do three exams each term. At the end of the school we don’t

have external exams.

If we fail a subject we can re-sit it doing what the teacher tell you usually is a project

and another exam sure.

MISBEHAVIOURWhen a student misbehaves the normal is that the teacher expelled him or her from

the class. But if someone fights in the school they are expelled from the high school a

many days.

After-School activitiesIn our high school we have assisted study as an activity. It’s to help students who need

some help with homework, exams, ...

Erasmus Creativity ClubWe have an Erasmus Creativity Club, and most of the time we meet on Wednesdays

from 15:00 to 16:00 at our high school.

Also we have 30 students (approximately) in the club.

School MealsIn our high school we just have breakfast, and we can buy it in the canteen, which is

open every day.

We have lunch at school if we have to meet with Erasmus Creativity Club or if we

have some After-School activities.

Weak PointsMaybe our high school would get better if we change the style and look, because it

doesn’t look perfect. But I think that this isn’t the most important thing from our high

school.

Strong PointsI think that we ‘re lucky because we have nice teachers who have a lot of experience,

and also they help us a lot, so that makes it better for us.
