AL 1 4LZ, UK Detecting leaks and malfunctions The Ultraprobe is a portable instrument that provides a testing capability from simple forms of fluid and gas leak detection to sophisticated mechanical and electrical analysis and nondestructive testing. It detects the ultrasonic signals generated by a leak, electrical discharge or mechanical malfunction and converts them to signals within the audible range. The unit operates in 'scanning mode' or 'contact mode'; scanning mode identifies the specific sonic signature of leaks as a 'gushing' or 'rushing' sound, and contact mode identifies mechanical malfunctions and internal mechanical leaks as a distinctive signature from its functioning counterpart or by its deterioration on each periodic inspection.
