SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT & CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

5

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is our pleasure to introduce the 6th International Congress on Vascular Dementia, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from November 19-22, 2009.

The Sixth International Congress will once again aim to be a showcase for the discussion of new developments in the area of dementia with special attention to cerebrovascular diseases affecting cognition. Thecongress will be an opportunity to deliberate on large and small vessel brain diseases and how they contribute to cognitive decline. We shall try to identify specifi c biological and psychological markers, if any, of vascular dementia, and also the genetic factors involved. The overlap with Alzheimer’s disease will be a central issue, as will be the white matter changes frequently seen in dementia.

We encourage you to submit your abstract to the congress thereby contributing to what we are confi dent will be an interesting scientifi c programme.

While we are still lacking effective therapies for dementia in general, several new approaches will be presented and discussed.

We look forward to welcoming you to Barcelona later this year and hope that this congress will be a memorable experience for all of you, where you will be able to further friendships and strengthen scientifi c collaborations.

Yours sincerely,

James F. Toole Jaime Kulisevsky Amos D. KorczynHonorary President Co-Chairman Co-Chairman
