MAJOR MILESTONES
1932 - Formation of Nizam State Railways & Road
Transport Department.
1951 - Take over of NSRTD Operations by Road
Transport Department of Govt. of Hyderabad.
1958 - Formation of Andhra Pradesh State Road
Transport Corporation.
1958 - First phase of Nationalization of Road
to Transport Service covering Krishna, Guntur
1961 and West Godavari Districts.

1965 - Introduction of Integrated Depot Setup.
1975 - Take over of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam
Transport Wing by APSRTC.
1978 - Reorganization of APSRTC -
Creation of Regions.
1986 - Introduction of Computerization in APSRTC.

1996 - Empowerment of Women by implementing
33% of reservation in all the Class-I,II,III and IV
posts in APSRTC. As of now 10,000 Women
employees are on rolls.
1999 - Entry in Guinness Book of World Records.
2003 - Introduced Volvo AC buses during April 2003
and 98 buses are in operation as of now.

2013 - Govt. of A.P. entrusted APSRTC for
manufacturing and fixing high Security
Registration Plates to all existing and newly
registered vehicles in the state.

- Proposed to establish Test Track with
electronic sensors to train the drivers of
APSRTC and other Organisation including
Rajiv Udyogasree.
- Government of A.P entrusted APSRTC for
fixing of Retero Reflective Tapes on all
transport vehicles by making use of the
existing infrastructure in the state.

Utilization, Vehicle Utilization, Break down
rate, Accident rate, Tyre Life,BSR, Employee
Productivity, A P S R T C stands far above
the national average. It ranks as Number
1 or 2 in most of the parameters.

LOWEST ACCIDENT RATE AWARD
Transport Minister‟s Trophy for lowest Accident Record in
2006-07 and 2010-11.
APSRTC bagged Transport Minister‟s Trophy (Runners)
and Cash Award from Govt. of India (Road Transport &
Highways) for achieving lowest accident rate in Moffusil
category among all other STUs in the country for the year
2007-08. Accordingly, an amount of Rs.50,000/- along
with Trophy was presented to VC& MD on 7.1.2011 at
New Delhi.
APSRTC bagged WINNER Award from ASRTU for Road
Safety “Lowest Accident Records – in STUs Mofussil
Services, Group -1” (having fleet strength above 10,000)
for the year 2010-11.

Alternate Fuels – Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
308 CNG buses are under operation at Vidyadharapuram, Governorpet-II and Ibrahimpatnam depots in Vijayawada city.
144 CNG buses are under operation at Hakimpet, Medchal & Cantonment Depots in Secunderabad Region.
The payment of MV Tax is totally exempted for CNG buses for a period of 5 years.
