Vector Protection for Textile Products
Vector Protection for Textile Products
STINGbye was founded in Barcelona, Spain.
Our company is dedicated to the manufacturing of fabrics and textile garments.
Thanks to the most advanced European technology, we have innovated by creating a new line of fabrics, unique and unmatched in the market, which protect from mosquitoes and other vectors.
Our products are concerned for the wellbeing of anyone who might be in contact with insects such as mosquitos, lice, ticks, and bedbugs.
Our products have a guaranteed quality and proven eciency.
They have been reviewed and approved as Class I (baby) textiles. They’re also bio-compatible as shown in tests by Cytotoxicity Test ITV.
The STINGbye products, under a registered trademark, provide an excellent barrier eect against mosquitoes and other disease-transmitting vectors.
* They provide protection against common mosquito, tiger mosquito, dengue, bedbugs, mites, ticks, lice, etc
* Can be worn by everyone – from babies to senior citizens.
* They don’t have a chemical smell and have a nice soft feel.
* They’re anti-allergic – they won’t cause any type of skin allergy.
* They’re durable, lasting more than 100 washes in a conventional washing machine.
Vectors are insects and other animals that transmit diseases.
It is estimated that there are around 200 million insects for each person on Earth.
According to scientic estimates, one in six people are currently infected with an insect borne disease. US health centers say that between the 17th and 20th centuries there were more cases of illness and death from vector diseases than all other causes combined!
“The majority of serious fever illnesses in human beings are caused by microorganisms and transmitted by insects”.
Encyclopedia Britannica
The transmission of diseases by vectors can occur in two ways:
1. Vectors such as ies can carry a huge amount of microorganisms on their feet which when transmitted to humans can cause diseases such as typhus, dysentery, cholera, and trachoma (the most common cause of blindness in the world).
2. The other possibility is the transmission of bacteria, viruses, or parasites through a vector bite or a sting. This method transmits germs from one infected human to another infected human.

Yes, they are. Mosquitos are the most dangerous disease transmitting vector in the world.
EThere are more than 3,500 species of mosquito, many of whom are merely an annoyance.
However, over a hundred species can potentially transmit diseases.
Mosquitos by themselves do not cause diseases. When they bite a victim they become infected themselves which they then transmit to other victims through further bites.
Mosquitos live for just a few months and only female mosquitos bite.
They require additional protein to lay their eggs and to keep their energy levels up. They continue biting victims until their hunger has been satised.
On the other hand, male mosquitos feed o sugar which they extract from plants.
In warm temperatures, females search for fresh blood every two to four days. Females bite their victims and suck their blood repetitively until they have ingested the necessary volume.
Once they are satised, the female will lay between 50 to over a hundred eggs, depending on the species.
Atmospheric moisture is essential for mosquito survival and is decisive for their biting activity. Biting patterns depend on the species. They can bite from sunrise to sunset and even through the night.
We do not currently fully understand how a mosquito’s sense of smell works. The criteria of how a female host seeks its next victim are not yet clear.
The gender, age, or whether or not the victim has eaten garlic doesn’t appear to be very important.
The most important criteria is based on body heat which is exhaled as CO2 (carbon dioxide) along with a number of odor components such as the victim’s perspiration or urine.
Mosquitos have an excellent sense of smell. This is due to powerful smell sensors on their antennas, at the end of their proboscis, and in their feet.
Those frequently advertised devices that are intended to repel mosquitos using special sound frequencies are useless. They do not work within the hearing range of all mosquito species and have even been criticized by various consumer organizations for using fraudulent advertising.
Mosquito nets are not always eective because they often left partially open. Another problem can be a lack of proper net maintenance. A hungry female mosquito will always nd the tiniest hole to squeeze through in order to attack its victim. For this reason, experts recommend using a mosquito net which has been given mosquito protection treatment.
There is also a wide variety of aerosol mosquito repellent on the market. This method is generally inadequate especially considering that the spray becomes ineective after a few hours. However, these three methods are considered by many as being the most eective.
Stingbye’s fabrics and garments have a huge advantage over conventional aerosol use:
The protective substance is blended into the fabric unlike aerosols which are applied directly to the skin. Its eectiveness doesn’t diminish over a few hours so there is no need to continuously apply more repellent.
The fabrics are also completely odorless.
It is totally anti-allergic. Our fabrics do not cause any kind of allergy or irritation.
Although there are many theories about this topic, we are going to look at the two most accepted ones within the scientic community:
1. The molecules in the active ingredient block the pores in the hairs of a mosquito’s moisture sensing antennae.
This prevents ying females from detecting their victim even after being stimulated by CO2 (carbon dioxide) exhalation.
It prevents the mosquito from landing on the victim when searching for blood. Professor Dr. Hans Briegel, Zoological Institute, University of Zurich. Switzerland. A mosquito researcher with more than 40 years’ experience in the Mosquito Research Laboratory of the University of Zurich.
2. Body odor is the most important sensory stimuli which allow a mosquito to locate its victim.
Synthetic protectors against mosquitoes work by misleading their sensory stimulation (victim’s body odor).
Therefore, the female mosquito is unable to nd a landing path on the protected victim and will search out another victim.. Professeur Dr. Jürgen Boeckh, Institute de Zoology, Université de Regensbourg. Bavaria, Germany.
STINGbye has many active components although the most important is Permethrin.
Permethrin belongs to the pyrethroids group. These are synthetic compounds that are structurally derived from natural pyrethrins and considerably more stable.
Permethrin is a type 1 pyrethroid. Its chemical name is 3-phenoxybenzyl (1RS) -cis, trans-3- (2,2-dichlorovinyl) -2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate.
Like all pyrethroids, permethrin is highly lipophilic, is not water soluble, and is very soluble in organic solvents.
The key of our success stems from having achieved a system for applying Permethrin, along with other components, in fabrics. This system allows us to obtain a demonstrated eectiveness in regard to protection.
This has been achieved through long and painstaking work by our Research and Development department.
All of our trademarked products guarantee this high level of eectiveness which makes us a world leader in the vector protection textile industry.
No other company can beat our level of protection.
The active ingredients that we use have been tested according to Oeko-Tex 100 Standards.
They have been approved for class 1 textiles – textiles baby. They are supported by the Cytotoxicity Test ITV, DE /
Denkendorf.
