    4. The cause of every actionperformed is desire. Things

happen not according to mansdesire but according to the

Lords Desire. Even the worldsand the things in them are the

    Desire of God.

    5/19

Desires are of two types: thelower and the higher. The loweris the desire of man and bindshim to hanker after all sorts of

things; but the higher is that ofGod and, unlike the former, it

    liberates man.

    6/19

So long as the lower desiresspring from the heart, liberation

is not attained. When the heartsdesire has withdrawn and that

,man is controlled by the Self andis freed from the clutches of

    ignorance.

    7/19

When desire arises, it annoys,it troubles, it angers and leads

one to do various things. Weshould do our utmost to curb it

each time it arises; he whocontrols his desire is a master

    of himself.

    8/19

The seeker has to struggleto master his senses and his

ego and, until they arem r r n rcontrol by the Self, his

    power will remain dormant

    9/19

One must discard all desires andcontrol the senses by which the

body is governed in order tobecome pure and to attain the

    ,must completely eliminate them

    to attain the eternal abode.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    10/19

One who can control all thesenses with the help of the Self

is a master of himself. Hence, the Self controls the man who

surrenders himself to His Willthrough silence, meditation

    and devotion.

Just as the lake has manychannels through which it loses

water and cannot be filled, likewise our body loses energy

are controlled, we can gather ourinner potentials and acquire any

    power we look for.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    12/19

When we allow our thoughts todwell continuously upon materialthings, we lose energy through the

channels of thought; when we speakcontinuously about material things,

we ose energy t roug spea ng;when we desire something, we lose

    energy through desire.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    13/19

Similarly, we lose energy throughpassion, hate, jealousy, gambling...

So one who controls all the sensesof the body and reaches a state ofsilence within himself is sure to

attain spiritual development andcan plunge into the depth of inner

    learning.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    14/19

The lower thoughts, whichtake all forms of desire, come

from the satanic force calledignorance, which is the root of

all our sorrow, grief, misery, trouble, sin and also death.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    15/19

The moment the soul enters awomans womb to take a body,

Satan who is infinite darknessveils the ego or the human self

.This ignorance prevails in himas long as he does not seek to

    know the truth.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    16/19

Satan has various appellations suchas world, matter, body, form,

darkness, ignorance, lowerthought, visible, finite, something, known, ego, evil actions, duality,

separation, impurity, all thedifferent evil qualities of theintellectual, actional, sensual

    senses, and death.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    17/19

Satan in the worldly men keepsthem in ignorance; Satan in the

spiritual men forces them towardsquick progress. Since ignorance

    ,Satan tires the seeker constantly

until he brings him to the goal

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    18/19

Thus Satan, too, is helpingthe seeker. Hence, Satan and

    God become two

whereas in the worldly manSatan ever remains an

    enemy.

  • 8/8/2019 Veervasantha4

    19/19

Satan and the Lord are ego andSoul. As the ego has to question

and the Soul to answer, hence,Satan is the questioner and the

their roles in all fields ofactivities where birth and death

    co-exist.
