Gauge

In Reverse Stockinette with larger needles, 24 sts and 32 rows = 4".

The 15-stitch Floral Motif measures 2 ½" across.

To save time, take time to check gauge.

Begin Garter Stitch Pattern, and work even until piece measures approximately 1" from beginning, ending after WS row.

Change to larger needles, begin Reverse Stockinette, and inc 10 (12, 13, 15, 16) sts evenly across first row—104 (119, 134, 149, 164) sts.

Work even until piece measures approximately 1 ½" from the cast on edge, ending after WS row.

Finishing

Block pieces to measurements.

Sew shoulder seams.

Buttonband

With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 111 (115, 119, 119, 123) sts along left front edge.

Begin Garter Stitch Pattern, and work even until band measures approximately 1" from beginning.

BO.

Place markers for 6 buttons along band, making the first and last ¼" from first neck bind-off and lower edge, respectively, and the others evenly-spaced in between them.

Buttonhole Band

With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 111 (115, 119, 119, 123) sts along right front edge, including side of neckband.

Begin Garter Stitch Pattern, and work even until band measures approx ½" from beginning.

Next Row: Work buttonholes opposite markers by binding off 2 sts.

Next Row: Continue in pattern as established, and CO 2 sts above the bound-off sts from previous row.

Complete same as buttonband.

Collar

With WS facing and smaller needles, begin halfway through front bands, and pick up and knit 109 sts along neckline.

Begin Garter Stitch Pattern, and work even for 2 ¼".

Change to larger needles, and continue pattern as established until collar measures approximately 5" from beginning, in-creasing 1 st each side every 4 rows as follows: K1, M1, knit across until 1 st remains in the row, ending with M1, K1.

When the collar measures approximately 5" total, BO loosely in pattern.

Set in sleeves.

Sew sleeve and side seams.

Sew on buttons.
