Clay Shingles is a rustic tile façade system with surface variations for cladding existing and new buildings. the system is flexible with respect to façade look and re-insulation level and allows for integra-tion of solar cells in the new façade.
Clay Shingles can be mounted directly on the existing façade, wooden frames or on an aluminium back system.
Clay Shingles is designed as a light outer wall of tile ideal for both new construc-tion and renovation work.
Clay Shingles is produced by some of the world’s best raw materials in clay, Westerwald clay.
Clay Shingles is made in seven architect-chosen colours, and each colour has three different surfaces/structures.
for larger projects, you can designyour own Clay Shingles. Own colour and own structure.
Clay Shingles can be delivered as a sys-tem solution with a complete installation system and a 100% inorganic range of materials.
Clay Shingles is developed in accordance with the Cradle to Cradle principles.
the burning of the Clay Shingles produ-ces an incredibly beautiful diversity of nuances in each of the colours.

together with the Clay Shingles, KOMPROMent has developed a series of hard-burned pavement tiles for outdoor areas. the pavement tiles are made in beautiful parallel hues to the Clay Shingles and in an extremely high quality class. the pavement tiles are designed to be resistant to the tough nordic climate and are therefore ideal for external pavement.

natural slate is a fine-grained, uniform metamorphic rock type formed by clay and volcanic ash. the slate consists primarily of quartz and muscovite, but also contains biotite, chlorite, pyrite and haematite.
Contrary to many other roofing and façade materials, natural slate is not industrially processed. the slate is cut directly out of the rock and cut up. it is then hand-split with a hammer and chisel into suitable formats for moun-ting on roofs or façades. hand-splitting with a hammer and chisel uses a very limited amount of energy in the production of the slate. natural slate is there-fore viewed as one of the world’s most environmentally friendly building materials. if you have a
good quality natural slate roof/façade, it will sometimes outlive the building itself. if the selection criteria for a new roof/façade are environmental friendliness and zero maintenance, then there is no better choice.there is no scarcity of natural slate, as there are still huge untapped slate deposits in exis-tence. it is believed that there is enough slate for millions of years to come.
history of slate graves lined with slate slabs have been found dating back to about 600 BC, and the Romans paved streets with slate slabs. however, it was not until around the 1500s that people began using natural slate as a weather screen in mid-dle and northern europe.
the benefit of slate in relation to other weather screen materials is that natural slate is stronger and cannot burn. in Denmark, the first frederiksborg Castle, Koldinghus and Copenhagen Castle all had natural slate roofs. natural slate has an extremely low water absorption index of less than 0.4%, making natural slate a very frost-resistant prod-uct.
long service life Slate is a natural, durable and exclusive building material, with excellent wind-, weather- and fire-resistant properties. the service life of world class natural slate is +80 years.

We produce our genuine natural slate in galicia in north-western Spain. in a small geographically limited mountain region around the town of O’Barco is where you will find some of the world’s best deposits of natural slate. the natural slate occurs in slate veins deep in the mountains, and it is here the raw and exclusive slate is extracted.
Century old traditions are used in the processing of the slate, and much of our natural slate today is still split by hand.
KOMprOMent has designed a number of standard products, but also works in close cooperation with the owner, architect and contractor to develop customer-tailored products for use in yOuR project.
Our development department and our european partners are standing by, ready to service yOu and your wishes.
