Training Seminars Veolia, a recognized leader in the management of hazardous materials, offers an approach to HazMat instruction that draws on our extensive field experience. Our training programs offer basic, advanced and refresher courses, and each is tailored to meet your specific needs. We use practical learning techniques and hands- on training whenever possible to maximize understanding of all materials. Veolia recognizes the importance of compliance in an ever-changing regulatory environment and continually updates its training programs to satisfy current DOT, EPA and OSHA requirements. Classes Approved for Training Contact Hours by the Massachuses DEP The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has approved our training sessions for Training Contact Hours (TCH). We offer three classes, each of which earns eight training hours: • First Responder Operations Level • Hazardous Materials Transportation (DOT) • Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) Training These classes not only satisfy hazardous waste requirements, but they also apply toward wastewater license renewals in Massachusetts. In addition, we offer the 24-Hour Hazardous Materials Technician Program training, followed by the 8-Hour On-Scene Incident Commander (IC) course. As a convenience, all classes are available multiple times each year over the required number of consecutive days. Seminar fees include training reference materials, continental breakfast and lunch, and a certificate of completion.

Class time is 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Cancellations must be received ten (10) business days prior to class. Fees are not refundable after this date. Substitutions are welcome at the time of the seminar.

Hazardous Materials Transportation (DOT) Initial or Refresher Training8 Hours

Complies with DOT training requirements stated in 49 CFR 172.704 and covers general awareness/familiarization training, function-specific training and safety training for all HazMat employees. Also covers Hazardous Material Security training. Please note that this course focuses on the requirements for carriage by public highway. It does not cover training required for air shipment of dangerous goods nor modal-specific for carriage by rail or vessel.

Hazardous Materials Technician Training24 Hours

Complies with the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)(6)(iii) training requirements for employees who respond to actual or potential releases of hazardous substances for the purpose of stopping the release. The Hazardous Materials Technician assumes a more aggressive role than a First Responder.

First Responder Operations Level Initial/HAZWOPER Refresher Training8 Hours

Complies with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for responders to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property or the environment.

Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) Initial/Annual Refresher Training8 Hours

Complies with EPA training requirements stated in 40 CFR 265.16 for all employees who manage Hazardous Waste.

On-Scene Incident Commander Training4 Hours

Complies with the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)(6)(v) for employees who will assume control of an incident scene. Trainees learn to implement the employer’s incident command system and appropriate emergency response plans. Training also encompasses the risks associated with employees working in chemical protective clothing. Prerequisite: Current 24-Hour HazMat Technician Certification
