Direct Object: receives the action of the verb
State the verb or action of the sentence and then ask:
WHO or WHAT received the action of
the verb?
You need to study your vocabulary for the test.
Formal: When the direct object of a sentence is person, you must place “a” before the noun.
Informal: If you can answer “WHO received the action of the verb?”, place “a” before the noun.
Ejemplos: ◦ Visito a mis tíos en Guatemala.◦ Visito las ruinas mayas.
Anita ayuda a ella.
(Yo) no conozco a Elena.
(Yo) necesito un lápiz.
(Ellos) juegan al tenis porque es divertido.
