O projecto O Lugar do DisctJrso tem o intuito de estudar e reflectir sobre a cultura editorial do periódico de arquitectura am Ponugal ao longo do século XX. Como o título sugere, este projec­to fixa-se no discurso ao mesmo tempo que se centra no "lugar .. através do qual esse discurso é produzido e dis.seminado - os periôdicos especializados de arquitectura. Invoca. também. uma complexa grelha de configurações formada por "quem" produz. '"que" conteúdos envolve, e "como" é que se constrói este "lugar•. Este projecto assenta. assim. no argumento de que os periódicos especializados de arqui tec­tura são mais do que uma mera sequência de objectos impressos isolados. No seu conjunto, eles dão corpo a várias linhas discursivas cru· zadas. que formam, ao longo do tempo, uma cultura editorial sustentada por constelações de relações entre editores, criticos, arquitectos e ouuos agentes operantes no campo. O ciclo Temas-Capa enquadra-se nesta pers­pectiva. Nele procura-se reflecti r sobre a forma como o discurso da arquitectura tem sido moldado pela imprensa da especialidade, propondo momentos de reflexão que tomam como ponto de partida temas. debates e pro · blemáticas que constituíram capa das revistas de arquitectura, passiveis de reconfigurar as conjunturas em que se enquadram e a identi· dade dos autores que as delinearam.

Arquitectura em VHS Lisboa, Anos 1980: Os Simpósios do Pós-modernismo Entre 1982 e 1986 decorreram, por iniciativa no Departamento de Arquitectura da Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa (OA-ESBAL), quatro simpósios internacionais dedicados ao advento do pós· modernismo. Tratava-se de uma iniciativa ambiciosa e pouco comum â época para a qual são chamados alguns dos arquitectos mais influentes nesse contexto. Serão recebidos porTomásTaveira, personali· dade central na difusão do conceito e da prática de pós-modernismo em Portugal. e activo pro­motor dos Simpósios, com Augusto Brandão (Oirector do DA·ESBAL). No decurso da i nvestigação de doutoramento de Leonor Matos Silva. a filmagem de trés desses seminários foi posta a descoberto. O Seminário Arquitectura em VHS. Lisboa, Anos 1980: Os Simpósios do Pós-modernismo pretende trazer esses documentos a públ ico. pela primei ra vez, abrindo um debate sobre aquilo que foram os conteúdos. a recepção e o contexto desses discursos no quadro da arquitectura portuguesa. Tomás Taveira, figura lide r ante do movimento pós-modernista em Portugal, será convidado para esse reencontro com uma parte esquecida da nossa história recente.

Augusto Pereira Brandão Diplomado em arquitectura (ESBAL, 1957). Docente e dirigente do curso de arquitectura da ESBALIFAUTL entre 1975 e 1991, prosseguiu a sua ligação à docência nas universidades Lusiada, Moderna, Independente e Lusófona.

Jorge Figueira licenciado em Arquitectura {FAUP, 1992). Doutorado em Arqui tectura pela Universidade de Coimbra (2009) . Di rector e Professor do Departamento de Arquitectura da FCTUC.

José Gorjão Jorge Licenciado em Arquitectura {ESBAL. 1979). Doutor em Arquitectura (FAUTL, 1993). Professor associ ado com agregação (FAUTL, 2012}. coordena a Secção de História e Teoria da Arquitectura, Urbanismo e Oesign da FAUL.

Leonor Matos Silva licenciada em Arquitectura de Interiores (FAUTL, 2004). Mestre em Arquitectura (FAUTL. 2011) com a tese " Cultura arquitectó· nica em Lisboa: Um o lhar a partir da ESBALI FAUTL no período de 1975 a 1990".

Rute Figueiredo Licenciada em Arquitectura (FAUTL, 1994}. Mestre em História da Arte (FCSH-UNL, 2003). Está a desenvolver doutoramento (ETH Zürich/ D~ARCH). Coordena o projecto de investigação "O Lugar do Discurso• ( IHAIISCTE).

Tomás Taveira Profes.sor Catedrático. diplomado em Arquitec· tu r a (ESBAL, 1970). Pós-graduado em Planea­mento Regional e Urbano (M IT·Massachussetts. 1977·78). Professor e di rigente universitário ao longo de três décadas, autor de referência da arquitectura portuguesa. Leccionou Arquitectura e Stage Designem Los Angeles na CAL-POLI (CaliforniaStatePolytechnic).

The project The Si te o f Oiscourse intends to s tudy and reflect on the editorial culture of the Portuguese periodicals of architecture throughout the to.•,entieth century. As the title suggests. this project i s about the discourse as wellas about t he "place" on which such d iscourse is p roduced - the specialized periodicals of architecture. lt also invokes a complex grid o f configurations about '"who" produces, "what" contents invol ves, and "how" such "site" is constructed. lt steams from the argument that speciali2ed periodicals of archi tecture are more than a mere sequence o f pri nted objects. As a whole, t hey embody various di scursive crossed ·lines. which formed. over time. an editorial culture suppor ted by constellations of relationships between the edito rs. critics, architects and o ther agents involved in the field . The cici e Cover-Themes fits in such perspec· t ive. lt aims to reflect about the way that the architectural d iscourse has been shaped by t he specialized press. proposing moments of reftectioo that take. as a starting point, themes and debates that were included in the front cover o f the architecture periodicals, likely to modify the settings where they were framed and the identity of the authors that outlined them.

VHS Architecture Usbon, 1980s: The Post·Modernism Symposia Between 1982 and 1986, the Oepartment of Architecture at Escola Superio r de Selas Artes (ESBAL} organized a series of four international symposia devoted to the advent of post-modern· ism. lt was an uncommon and ambitious initia· ti ve at the time, and it brought together some of the most influential architects in this are a. They were welcomed byTomãsTaveira. a key player in the dissemination o f the concept and practice of post·modernism i n Portugal, and an active promoter of these symposia together with Augusto Brandão (Director of Architecture at ESBAL). leonor Matos Silva's PhO research "'unearthed" the tapes of three of these events. The Seminar VHS Atchiteccute. Lisbo1t 1980s: The Posr-Modernism Symposia, will bring these documents to the public for the first time with the aim of fostering a debate on the contents. reception and context of these discourses withi n the framework of Portuguese architecwre. Tomás Taveira. leading figure of the post· modernist movement in Portugal, is invited to this reunion with a forgotten part of Portuguese architecwre's recent history.
