2. Overview

The QTao is a data aggregation device that collects readings from connected meters and pushes thatinformation to a remote database through the cloud. Any collected data will be saved on the QTao for 60days. This data can be accessed via Quadlogic’s cloud database, QuadQloud. The data is accessed viaQuadlogic’s web-based data visualization interface, QView, or through APIs along with 3rd party energymanagement software.

- The QTao may be configured to work with many meter types and the meter data may be accessedusing a variety of tools. See specifications for a complete list of options.

4. Overview of Operation

The QTao Data Hub collects meter data and pushes it to a cloud database. The data can eitherbe accessed through the QView Data Visualization Dashboard, the QTao’s local web interface,or a 3rd party system.

The QTao has 2 basic user interfaces.1. On-board menu (navigation with buttons on QTao device) for quick and easy system

status, network troubleshooting, and turning the WiFi hotspot on/off. Refer to Section 5for more details.

2. Web interface (access through local area network or QTao’s WiFi hotspot) for systemsetup, adding links and devices, troubleshooting, and downloading data.

a. Connecting meters: use the web interface to add communication links to thesystem. Each link is associated with a physical port on the QTao and with acommunication protocol.

b. Add devices: use the web interface to auto-detect devices and add them to acommunication link.

c. Data collection: Once a device is added to a link the QTao begins collecting datafrom the device and pushing it to the QuadQloud.

d. Data access: The data may be accessed from the QTao through the web interfaceor the QuadQloud

e. Refer to Sections 7 and 8 for more details.

8. Web Navigation/Device Setup

The QTao configuration web interface provides a local interface to set up communicationinterfaces (called links), add devices, and access data currently stored on the device. You canaccess this interface through a local network connection, or through the QTao’s onboard WiFihotspot (see Section 7 for details on making this connection).

8.1 Accessing the Web Interface

Scroll to the Network menu tab on the LCD screen and identify the IP address displayed next to“Eth0”. Enter this address into a web browser (chrome is preferred) on a computer connected tothe same network as the QTao. This will direct you to the QTao webpage. If a networkconnection is unavailable, follow the steps in Section 7.

8.2 Link Setup

From the main web interface, after entering the login information you are taken to the“Directory” menu. Select the “Metering” button to go to the “Metering” menu. There select the“Link” button. Then click “show links” and add a link. To add serial link:

For QBrick and Qlic electrical metering devices, all energy parameters (including kWh, kVAh,kVARh) are available for download. Additionally, pulse input data may be downloaded fromQBrick family metering devices.

Energy reads from Qlics are saved at 15 minute intervals, while QBrick energy reads are savedat 5 minute intervals. The QTao can download data sets from either the minimum time intervalfor the meter, each hour, or for each day.

For MBus metering devices, the default parameter of the meter (for example, for water metersthis would be volume in m^3) can be downloaded. Available parameters and associated unitsare based on the MBUS protocol specification.

MBus metering devices are read hourly by the QTao. Data can be downloaded for hourly ordaily reads.
