Based on the rapid development of Mechanization in the sand casting field. It encouraged us to make a project in the field of sand screening process. We are the final semester pupils of V.RAMAKRISHNA POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE.. We have taken "VERTICAL DRUM TYPE FILTER" as our project work. As we are given a chance to establish our technical knowledge in terms of material. We have done our best in this project work.

SYNOPSIS
SYNOPSIS
In our project fabrication of vertical drum type sand filter. The screening os sand particles is done automatically by this device. In early days in industries are using manual method so to reduce the time and money. We have to make the vertical drum type sand filter. In this filtering , metal wheels rotating at high speed so that the sand particles to be filtered are thrown away by the centrifugal forces over the fliter .
The filtering screening filters are fitted around the vertical drum.. The cost of preparing the screening the sand by using device is economically cheap. The time taken for filtering of sand is less than that when we use manual or old method. After filtering the sand it may be taken out from a drop door at the bottom of the drum.

The recent innovation in the development of the foundry industry compels the use of sand filtering in the place of manual equipment such as shovel and plate type screen filter etc. If significantly reduces the man power and screening time,The sand screening device eliminates any use of manual method.
Now-a-days almost all the foundries in our country are involved in mass production and they have achieved that with the aid of sand screening device as part of their plant mechanization.

Vertical drum type sand filterThe cost of labour for construction work or production plant or any commercial work goes on increasing . This leads the increase in product cost and time . Now present horizontal filtering sand screening type, loading the sand is inconvenient and separate manual power is required to load the sand. To avoid the manual loading and loading the sand from the conveyor, or any other automation process plant on constructional work , vertical drum type filter is best suitable one .Thus it increases the production rate and eliminates the manual loading method in foundry plant .CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION
The equipment is made up of 20 gauge thick mild steel sheet metal.
The equipment is consists of rotatable cylindrical shell of 300 mm diameter of small capacity. The loading is provided at the top of the cylindrical drum shell. The filtered sand particles are collected thorough the periphery of the vertical cylinder through the screen filter. The cylindrical steel shell is mounted from the base with the help of four legs provided on the four corner of cylindrical shell.
An electric motor is provided at the base of the equipment. The motor shaft is connecting with the plunge. The bearing plates are supported by 4 number of welded pillars.

JOB PREPARATION:
Before welding, remove any bend in the L angle with the sludge hammer on the anvil block. Then it is cut to the required length with the hacksaw blade and fabricated to required dimensional shape with are welding.
FINISHING OPERATION BEFORE PAINTING:
After welding, any slag on the welded area is removed with the chipping hammer and cleaned with the metal wire brush. Then all the surfaces are rubbed with the emery sheet.
Metal primer is applied on the surfaces with the brush. After drying the metal primer, the second coating is applied with the paint.

This project gives all the necessary experience that "which one resembles as a simple shape, provides a great work under production". This project cannot be finished by simply buying the products as available in the outside market. As we it self carried out all the work involved in the production ofthis project, expect fabrication work. We experienced the actual difficulties in the production.
