Route to the Marine Competition• Marine Industries Strategic Framework 2010

– Led by MILC supported by BIS to develop and sustain UK marine industries in Naval, commercial, leisure and marine renewable sectors

• Strategy for Growth for UK Marine Industries 2011 – UK Marine Industries Alliance supported by MILC, BIS and Scottish Enterprise– First integrated UK strategy for growth of the marine industries

• Marine Roadmap and Capability Study 2011/12– To focus attention on what UK marine companies feel they should be developing– Funded by TSB and Transport KTN and supported by BIS = £500k invested– UK MIA supported with participation from industry, academia and stakeholders– Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) facilitated workshops, analysis and report writing– Capability study by Ricardo ongoing– Roadmap outputs informed the Vessel Efficiency Competition

– Roadmap available at: www.ukmarinealliance.co.uk

Leading market opportunities

Roadmap identified 30 top ranked areas that would benefit from investment.

These fall into 4 major opportunity groups:– Integrated Transport with other modes– Marine Renewables– Low carbon/green shipping and propulsion– Marine ICT

First two already being invested in nationally so last two to be addressed in the competition

• The Transport KTN is running two more free information days to raise awareness and explain how to participate in this funding opportunity:-

Glasgow, Grand Central Hotel - 5 DecemberMersey Maritime, Liverpool – 11 December

• These are for anyone interested in developing a greater understanding of the scope and rules of the competition, and finding collaborative partners.

• To stay up to date with news of the Competition and book a place at one of these events join the Transport KTN’s Vessel Efficiency sub group at:
